"Thoroughly recommend. Sarah was friendly and patient and worked to the ability of the student. I was thrilled with my footstool and was able to finish it easily at home as I had the skills. Lovely environment. I drove a longway but was definitely worth it. "

Chris Jeffrey reviewed: Basic woodturning half day

"An excellent session. For something that looks "so easy" online you soon find out it's not but Chris is very patient and a great teacher. Having done this in one session previously I was really keen to be back trying woodturning. It was obvious to Chris some aspects I did struggle with but he was very keen to see what motivated me to try and build on my enthusiasm. There was even tips on how I could continue doing this if I chose. I even experienced a little personal "wobble" during the session, Chris handled this excellently and got me going again - even cutting into his own time to ensure I finished and was still motivated by the end. Thoroughly enjoyed and Chris is an excellent teacher!"

Chris Parker Woodturner responded:

"Hi Chris, Really happy you enjoyed your tuition, your enthusiasm was fantastic & yes a wobble as you say but you came back stronger. All the best with your turning journey. Chris parker "

Kate Carpenter reviewed: Bespoke Photo-encaustic workshop

"I can highly recommend this workshop. I'm a photographer and wanted to learn how to incorporate encaustic into my work. Before the workshop I had phone and email correspondence with Lyn and together we worked out what we wanted to do. Lyn understood exactly what I am trying to express in my work and made some excellent suggestions. The day itself was great fun - I approached it in the spirit of experimentation and left with loads of ideas for things to try by myself. Lyn explained things clearly and her manner allowed me to have a go without feeling any pressure to get things "right" - we just let the evolving work take us where it took us. She was great company, and I had a wonderful day. "

Contemporary Encaustic Wax Workshop with Lyn Kirkland responded:

"I love my job! Meeting other creatives. Trying to get under ‘the skin’ of their work to suggest ways of achieving an idea they have in their head…with the addition of wax. Thank you for your spirit of adventure Kate, it was lovely to meet you and share my passion for encaustic. Good luck with your burgeoning ideas. Keep in touch. Lyn "

Kim walsh reviewed: 1-Day Lampshade Making Course

"I really enjoyed the day. The tutor was very knowledgeable and took us through step by step to make our first shade with the option to go our own pace of the second working through what we'd just learned. I left with confidence to make my own shades, I'd really recommend this if you've ever struggled to find the right shade for a room, it's so easy to make your own once you know how!"

Annette Boyne reviewed: 1 Day Bring Your Own Upholstery Project

"The course was an excellent introduction to upholstery. We learnt the essential skills and tools you need to start this fascinating art. Lucy is an inspiring teacher who guided through our first projects. And it was also great fun! I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who has in interest in starting out in learning upholstery skills. "

Roundedby responded:

"It was so great to have you on the course Annette, you worked so hard (and with a concert ahead of you!) - it’s incredible isn’t it, how much work there is, simply in the stripping down of a piece, and I’m always delighted when people are up for traditional rebuilding methods - a great tension on your webbing! Thanks again, and for the kind words! Lucy "

Frances reviewed: Introduction to Sourdough Bread Making class

"I recently had the pleasure of attending a breadmaking course run by Ian and Michael, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment I arrived at their beautiful home, I knew I was in for a treat. The setting alone made the experience so special—an inviting, cosy atmosphere that made you feel right at home. They are both incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about baking and we were through every step of the process with ease, explaining the science behind the ingredients and techniques. An absolute highlight of the day was lunch! Not only did we get to enjoy a spread of freshly baked bread, but they had prepared a feast that perfectly complemented the bread and had me going back for seconds and thirds! Ian and Michael were incredible hosts, and their love for baking truly shone through. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned baker, this course is a fantastic way to learn and enjoy the craft of baking. Oh, and don’t forget to give their dogs some love—they’re as wonderful as the bread!"

"What a wonderful review Frances! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. Lotti and Spencer say thank you too 😀"

"I attended the furniture painting workshop in Cheadle. It was a lovely workshop! Jo was thorough, touched on key techniques and, had boards for practicing and testing techniques which was one of the most helpful things for me! She’s a gem a of person, always there to guide and was very supportive when we got round to painting our piece of furniture! Julie and Martin Strudwick reviewed: Beginners 1-day pairs pottery / ceramics workshop

"We have just had the most wonderful enjoyable and relaxing day with Louise on a pairs days pottery course. Louise and Simon were both so welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, though the time flew by so quickly. My favourite things were the hand built items - the pinch pots, coiled pots and slab built pots but I was also excited to be able to try throwing a pot on the potters wheel. Throwing on the wheel was not my forte certainly much harder than I thought it would be but I was pleased to have tried. My husband did so much better at throwing on the wheel than I did! We were kept fuelled with cups of tea and biscuits and a delicious lunch in their lovely warm kitchen. I cannot wait to see our pots when they have been glazed and fired - hope the kiln gods are kind. Looking forward to returning to try something else. "

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"What a lovely review guys - thank you so much! It was great having you both in the studio for the day and just wonderful that you enjoyed it so much. It's often the way that one person takes to the wheel quicker than the other, but I'd say you really found your niche with the beautiful slab work Julie :-). Thank you again for the lovely review and I'll be in touch when your creations have been glazed and fired."
