Ian reviewed: Green Man stone carving in Yorkshire

"Helen is great at teaching, knowing just when to add personal hints to give the most from the course. We were amazed how much progress could be achieved in 2 days and the results fabulous. Location is capable of holding all of us with ease. Tea, coffee and biscuits were appreciated. Safe working environment, perfect for beginners. Remember, the stone is heavy when you go to carry it home. Hidden gem. "

Jamie Woodhead reviewed: Woodturning Lesson in the Heart of Yorkshire by Professional Woodturners

"As an introduction to woodturning, this was great course. They only normally have 2 pupils, so there's very close supervision. The teaching was simple and instructive, and we produced 2 nice objects to take away. I would highly recommend the course to those just starting in woodturning as getting the basic techniques right at the start is vital."

AJ reviewed: Adult Abstract Painting full day workshop

"I was on the April 25 course with Jack. Jack is very friendly, approachable and patient. He explained about the origins of abstract art and then gave us some warm up exercises. We then experimented with composition using black acrylic before moving onto colours. We had a lot of opportunities to try different techniques and Jack gave us demonstrations on using brushes and other tools. We moved into our canvases and Jack helped with colour mixing and provided an objective view on our pieces. Would definitely recommend this workshop and would consider doing again. "

Simon Robinson reviewed: Blacksmithing experience day

"I attended Arian’s blacksmith’s experience day on 12/4/25 as present bought for me. The venue was easy to find and located in a fantastic country setting making a thoroughly enjoyable day. Arian was very friendly, experienced with hands on skills. This together with his ‘just right’ tutoring for each student’s ability meant it was a great days’ experience of traditional blacksmithing, learning the basics of forge work which make up most blacksmithing jobs. These basics were well explained and I learnt more than I had expected. I made two very usable items which I’m very pleased with and I’ve been inspired to dig out the old forge/hearth I inherited from my grandfather and try some more. When one of my pieces went a bit wrong his patience, skills and experience allowed him to pull it back from going in the bin. Thanks Arian! He cooks a deliciously tasty vegetable soup for lunch on the forge too! Excellent day!"

"My daughter and I had a really immersive and enjoyable day learning how to make willow baskets. Marianne is a great tutor. She was very welcoming and calm, explaining everything at each step and giving help when needed. The rural venue is so peaceful and relaxing. We came away at the end of the day with, not only our completed baskets, but with a sense of achievement at having learnt a new skill."

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review, Catherine! It was such a pleasure to teach you both, as you went from strength to strength and what a fabulous result! That hedgerow in your basket looks very stunning and it'll be interesting to see it gradually drying and changing colour. Wonderful to see how you were both enjoying sharing the learning process and being together in the moment. I really hope to see you again during one of the courses, as I couldn't have wished for more enthusiastic students!"
