Beginners silver clay ('PMC') jewellery - full day workshop
Description
Have a great day out and learn how to work with fine silver clay - a relatively new way to create your own unique solid silver jewellery items. If the dates listed don't suit you - please get in touch to discuss other availability! Silver clay is a relatively new material; - literally a clay made from recycled silver particles, held together in a water based binder. The clay is shaped, refined, joined and finally dried out, just like with regular clay. It is then fired to burn away the binder and leave a solid silver form that is then polished and finished like any other piece of silver jewellery. This listing is to learn how to work with silver precious metal clay. Silver clay is a material that requires a very different way of working and thinking to regular metal fabrication - it allows a different style of working and of course has it's own unique properties - it is particularly great for sculpting, modelling and creating textured / patterned surfaces.: A standard beginners day includes; -. - Creating 2 or 3 completed jewellery pieces - earrings, pendants or charms - Learning how to shape the clay and apply surface patterns - Drying and refining clay shapes - Joining clay elements together - Setting fireable gemstones - Creating your own moulds and using these with the silver clay - Safely firing the clay - Polishing and finishing your creations ready to wear and show off! FAQs
My classes have a maximum of 3 students - or less.
This is partly to ensure everyone has adequate space and tools to work comfortably, but also to ensure each student can have the best experience and have enough support and attention to ensure that everyone can get as much as possible out of their day.
There is no allocated parking. Travel by public transport is recommended.
Parking is possible on the neighbouring streets - this is just standard on street parking with the usual time limits etc and a space is not guaranteed. There are a couple of paid car parks locally if you really need to drive.
I do not recommend driving unless you have no other option - the location is very well served by public transport.
Only if your children are adults, I'm afraid! I currently only teach over 18s.
I'm very sorry but my space is not accessible - there are steps at the front door to enter the property, and the main workshop and toilet are both on the lower ground floor, downstairs from the entrance. I am very sorry about this - if you struggle with stairs or moving about freely then this may not be the right space for you unfortunately.
I am located in Camden Town - in central London - NW1 - just a 5 minute walk from either Camden Town tube station on the Northern Line tube, or also just 5 minutes walk from Camden Road overground station on the Mildmay line. Full address details will be provided with your booking confirmation.
