Melissa Hookway reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"A most excellent way to spend a weekend. The rural location is delightful, and Sebastian’s beautiful sculptures are within the grounds for inspiration and admiration. I had a most wonderful time being creative, working on a lovely block of Bath stone. With the encouragement and advice of Sebastian I gained more confidence as the weekend progressed. Naturally stone carving is a messy business, so my best gardening clothes were the order of the day! With regard to thoughts about what shape to try and create, I found it very helpful to make a very rough mock up of the shape in papier mache at home beforehand, as I aimed to create a Three D piece. (While there is the option of making a clay model of your shape on the first day of the course to help when it comes to working on the stone itself, I thought I would gain more time if I arrived with the papier mache alternative at the start) Highly recommended! Lucy Skinner reviewed: Creating Art in Nature- A new monthly creative group based in natural surroundings!

"I recently took part in this creative therapeutic art course. Louise and Jenna were brilliant facilitators, offering a safe, non-judgmental, and open space for attendees to stretch their creativity, and delve deeper into their art work. I came away each week feeling a little lighter having enjoyed spending some time doing art (with a whole host of materials and supplies!) as well as learning more about myself in the process. Would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested! Thank you Louise and Jenna :)"

Sarah Garratt reviewed: Introduction to Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"Really enjoyed my day of Lino cutting. I found the modern alternative to the craft set that I battled with as a child so much easier to work with! Judith had a great range of resources and materials to inspire us and we were able to play with plenty of colour options with our completed design. The venue was ideal with a shop and cafe into the bargain. "

Shani Sedgwick reviewed: Spoon Carving with Touchwood Glasgow

"I’ve just attended a spoon carving workshop run by Robert Andrew and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day and one that I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about this craft. We were a small group, all working on different styles of spoons and yet Robert was able to give each of us the one to one help we needed, all in a relaxed, friendly and safety conscious way. His respect for the integrity of his medium, trees and their wood was at the heart of his practice and that shone through the day. Thank you for a great day! "

"What a wonderful two days! This course was exactly what I was hoping it would be and more! Chris H reviewed: Bladesmithing experience day

"Excellent one day introduction to bladesmithing. I was looking for an experience where the class was small and numbers were limited. Steve only has two students during the session and this truly leads to a personal experience. Steve is clearly very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm was evident from the outset. Steve was patient and supportive, regardless of prior experience and ultimately ensured our knives were of an amazing standard for us to take away. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and can appreciate why Steve has many people return for further days in his forge. Many thanks Steve! "

White Tiger Knives responded:

"Hi Chris Thank you for your review. I'm always really pleased when a student enjoys themselves in the shop with me. I'm glad that you are happy with the knife that you made and keeping the classes small allows me to keep the quality of the finished piece that a student makes to the highest standard possible. I hope you enjoy your time with your knife and you put it to good use. Kind regards Steve "

Carol kobylanski reviewed: Enter the world of Pyrography with Bob Neill

"We had a fabulous day, Bob and Del made us feel comfortable and are very good hosts. We learnt how different woods, veneers and leather would react to burning. We learnt about equipment used and the different effects you can get with the wire nibs. We started by doing practice pieces in the morning, then onto a spoon and cheese board. We came away with some lovely pieces and would recommend it to anyone. Very therapeutic. Would definitely do it again. Thank you for your hospitality and lunch was great. 👍 "

Burnt Offerings responded:
