Julia Griffith reviewed: Glass blowing course - taster

"What an experience. I was bought this course as a birthday present and had no knowledge or experience with glass. I arrived nervous about dealing with molten glass but left feeling ecstatic and quite proud. Chris and Joy were friendly and attentive offering just the right amount of help and with Chris’ clear instructions at each step I created 2 vases, a bowl and a paperweight. It wasn’t long before I was shaping, blowing, stretching and transferring the glass between rods. It is a fascinating process and so much fun. I would recommend this course to everyone who is looking for a very different way to use up their creativity. The best bit was Chris’ teaching ability breaking it all down in to steps. He was very supportive but equally happy for you to take the reins when you were ready and celebrated each piece being finished with a happy high five. What a wonderful experience."

Chew Valley HandMade Glass responded:

"Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us, Chris said you were a pleasure to teach From all the Chew valley glass team."

Patricia Biggs reviewed: The Art of Drawing: Essential Techniques for All Levels Monday - 4 week online Zoom

"I joined this class as a complete beginner. As a complete novice drawing is quite a challenged. I am finding that I am gaining in confidence even if the task seems daunting. It is broken down and we are taken through the task step by step and I have managed to complete and managed to draw an apple in graphite pencil that looked like an apple and 3 dimensional image. I would highly recommend this course to anyone really wanting from the very basics onwards."

"I enrolled on the course as a complete novice to mosaic crafting. Lindsey made me feel very welcome and explained in easy steps how to assemble the mosaic. James reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"This was my first-ever experience of woodturning, and my only foray into woodwork since a spectacularly dismal performance at school in the early 1980's, where my main output was shavings. I could not have been in better hands, as Colin is patient, extremely knowledgeable and personable, and I came away with two pieces that make this absolute novice feel competent in the craft. Obviously there is a lot more to learn, but Colin's wisdom and experience encapsulated in the comprehensive tuition notes will give me the confidence to grow my skills. I cannot recommend this course highly enough."

Devon Wood Crafts responded:

"Thank you,James If I can help in the future please get back in touch. Regards, Colin"

Lizzie reviewed: Make a silver ring: one-to-one workshop

"My boyfriend had booked me on to a silver ring workshop, and having never really made my own jewelry this was such a wonderful experience. Angela gave me the opportunity and confidence to choose my own design and run with my own ideas. She was very patient and a great teacher in the art of jewelry making. This experience was such a lovely and calming Sunday activity but also a great way to learn a new skill and come away with a bespoke and beautiful handmade ring at the end. All round, a delightful experience that I’d recommend to all!"

"I did this course with my mom and my aunty, we got it as a christmas present which was such a lovely gift idea. Jolene was kind, informative and patient with all of us, she is a brillaint teacher!! She guided and assisted in a way that allowed us all to do most of the work with our own hands, which made us all feel very accomplished and proud of the end result. We all had the most amazing day together and it was so special, we left feeling like we'd learnt a lot and were eager to do another one!"
