Hello & Welcome I'm Sharon, an experienced ceramic artist who alongside a small staff team runs fun & informal pottery sessions for those aged 16 years & over. This 2hr Potters Wheel Class will to introduce you to throwing pottery, It's great for beginners wanting to learn a new hobby or those looking to refresh their skills. You'll start with a ball of clay and are guided through the basic steps to make a pot. You will explore centering, opening up the clay & pulling up the clay walls - Trying to make a cylinder. Once you have done your first pot with support & assistance, you will then get a second ball of clay and have time to self practice the steps. Tutors will not be far away and will give you as much or as little help as needed. Throwing takes time to master, it's about letting go, getting messy and having fun - Embracing the wonky and wobbly! In the 2nd hour we spend time looking at where you need help, giving you tips and advice on how to progress to get that cylinder shape. With more time to practice the technique. We aim for 3-4 pots during the session. There is lots of verbal support and hands on assistance throughout the class. The sessions run Tuesday-Saturday every week, and can be attended by up to 5 people. After your session, your pots can either be taken home to air dry Or, you may decide you want to have them fired £3 per pot. You then have the option of returning to the studio for a glazing session 2-3 weeks later £15pp The Crafty Potter studio is based within Heskin shopping village, a unique retail and leisure destination featuring over 40 unique shops and businesses. With free parking we’re a perfect destination for you to make a great fun day out. The class makes a fabulous gift for all occasions.
