Hello & Welcome I'm Sharon, an experienced ceramic artist who alongside a small staff team runs fun & informal pottery sessions for those aged 16 years & over. This 1hr Potters Wheel Taster session is about having a go and embracing the wonky & wobbly pots - Throwing takes time to master, it's about letting go, getting messy and having fun. The session is for those just wanting a go or wanting to explore a new hobby & is suitable for absolute beginners. You'll get a ball of clay and are guided through the basic steps to make a pot. You will explore centering, opening up the clay & pulling up the clay walls - Trying to make a cylinder. Once you have done your first pot with assistance, you will then get a second ball of clay and have time to self practice the steps. There is lots of verbal support and hands on assistance throughout the class. We aim for 1-2 pots during the session. The class runs Tuesday to Saturday every week. You take your pots home at the end of the session to air dry OR as an optional extra, you can have your pots fired at a cost of £3 per pot. You then have the option of returning to the studio for a glaze session £15pp. The Crafty Potter studio is based within Heskin shopping Village, a unique retail and leisure destination featuring over 40 unique shops and businesses. With free parking we’re a perfect destination for you to make a great fun day out. The class makes a fabulous gift for all occasions.
