Zoe reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"The course was a gift for my husband and he loved it! Alex is a fantastic tutor. My husband arrived early and we, having purchased tickets to the museum, followed on an hour later. It was a lovely day for all of us. The trivet he made sits proudly on the table, but more importantly the memories of the day will last just as long! Alex is very knowledgeable and ensured that the day went smoothly. I don't think I can recommend this course highly enough, a proper treat."

Chalk Pit Forge responded:

"Hi Zoe, thank you so much for the great review. It's really appreciated. I'm glad your husband enjoyed it and it's great he's got a trivet he can use and remember the day. Thanks again Alex "

Jeremy Dolan reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"I would recommend this one on one session to anyone interested in blacksmithing. Fascinating craft! Alex's teaching allowed me to make the valuable mistakes necessary to learn from, without adversely impacting the outcome of what I wanted to build. I now have the confidence to have a bash at home and further the skills I learned. This was a gift and a great experience. I genuinely felt childhood levels of excitement and feel very satisfied when thinking about the day."

Chalk Pit Forge responded:

"Thanks very much, Jeremy. That's really nice to hear. I'm glad you would happily do it again and found it satisfying. Get that forge lit! Alex "

"The course was good, well paced & structured. What was very poor & unprofessional was it took nearly an hour to log on, we did not get started till after 11:00"

Nottingham Trent University responded:

"Dear David, Thank you so much for your review, I'm very glad to hear that the course structure and pace has been enjoyable for you so far. I apologise that you had a bad experience due to some technical issues with our new IT accounts, I can assure you that this was a teething issue with a new process, which has been fixed the next session of the course. Your feedback is always appreciated, and we're always looking at how the short course student experience can be improved. Kind regards, Alison Short Course Administrator "

Cathy reviewed: One to one photographic tuition London - Online

"I attended an online one-one photography tuition with Richard Piper in March 2023. As a beginner myself, I found his approach extremely instructive and motivating. I was met at my own level and given critique using a small sample of images of my own. He then used images from his collection to illustrate the importance of both the tangible “tools” and intangible “talents” essential to developing good technique and creativity, tailored to my areas of interest. He has remarkable teaching skills which became apparent as I reflected on the breadth of knowledge he had shared during that tuition, laying a solid foundation for me to pursue. I wish to express my gratitude as well as highly recommend his expertise, at whatever level one may be. "

Richard Piper Photography responded:

"Thank you so much Cathy. I appreciate you taking the time to give me such a lovely review. It was a real pleasure for me to share my knowledge and approach to photography with you. You are a wonderfully enquiring student and I am so pleased you enjoyed the course and felt inspired and benefited from my tailored teaching methods. If I can assist you further, I’d be delighted to do so. Richard"
