Lisa H reviewed: Making silk flowers workshop

"I had a really enjoyable day making a silk peony, instructed by Rose. She was very patient and gave good instructions which really helped. The peony itself was a very complicated flower but Rose took us through us step by step. I was very happy how mine turned out, but don't think I could replicate it at home as it felt very complicated, but I'd love to try a different flower. Also, having a full set of instructions to take home would've been really good, so if I was feeling a bit brave, I could work through them step by step. "

Made with Rose responded:

"Thank you for your feedback Lisa. So glad that you enjoyed the day and yes the peony has a lot of petals but you managed to make a stunning flower. Well done. I do lots of other flowers and different techniques, and would love for you to try different flowers. Keep in touch and thanks again Rose"

Mary reviewed: Weave a Willow Frame Basket

"I enjoyed the day course with wonderful people all willing to share their knowledge. The music was also enjoyable and gave some relief when pockets of frustration emmerged. We all completed an egg basket that I would say for beginners in a day was good, Jane the tutor was patient and helpful."

Nic Carter-Jones reviewed: Painting Workshops in West Pembrokeshire with Kate Freeman

"Kate is an exceptional artist and an excellent teacher. She lets you work at your own pace and really encourages you to ‘find yourself and your style’. At some points in my two day workshop I found myself quite emotional at the things Kate let me find out about myself."

Coach House Studio responded:

"That's lovely Nic, thank you. I'm so glad you found the workshop helpful - hopefully you will continue to develop your artwork. Best wishes, Kate"

Kara reviewed: Silver Clay Jewellery for Beginners

"Jo is an absolutely fantastic teacher. She has a background in education and you can really tell. My partner and I booked on to the course and our expectations were met and then greatly exceeded. Everything you could have wanted in a course and in a teacher. Jo is knowledgeable, patient, friendly and supportive. We learnt about the material, how to work with it and designed our pieces from scratch. We then sculpted our designs out of silver clay following Jo’s guidance. Finally we got to fire and polish our pieces. We now have two amazing hand made pieces of jewellery each and we couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend booking a course with Jo. "

Jo Hunter Wearable Art responded:

"Thank you so much, Kara! It was a pleasure to meet you both and I'm glad you enjoyed the workshop. Jo"

David Parsons reviewed: Spoon carving at Walderchain Wood, Canterbury

"Fantastic course. Mark is a superb host at his relaxing forest workshop. He explained and demonstrated each stage of green spoon-making from splitting the wood to completing the finished spoon, one step at a time, then guiding us to do the same. He emphasised safe techniques so we could go home and repeat the process without injuring ourselves. He had different makes of tools for us to compare and try, to help us choose if we wanted to buy our own in the future. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided during the day and his wife cooked a wonderful lunch for us all. Overall, a relaxing day out, either as a novel one-off or with the confidence to go home and start a new hobby. Highly recommended."

Walderchain Wood responded:

"David, thank you for the great review and glad you enjoyed the day. Keep carving! All the best Mark and Cristina"

Chris and Jenny reviewed: One day Traditional Lead Stained Glass Course

"It takes a few hours to learn the techniques for cutting and shaping glass pieces, but Cheryl is always there to aid and encourage. Assembling the leaded panel looks easy but needs dexterity, and once again, Cheryl is there to help. We would return ourselves, and also recommend to others."

Sarah reviewed: A day on the tiles: one-day mosaic workshop

"Thoroughly enjoyed our Mosaic day with Fiona. I booked very last minute for a friends birthday, and Fiona warmly accepted the booking even though there were just the 2 of us. As soon as we walked through the door, the kettle was on (as it was several times during the day) and biscuits / cake were available if we wanted to indulge. Despite both of us having very busy work / personal lives we immediately relaxed into the task in hand. Fiona spent time explaining the process to us, showing us the materials available to use and the tools needed for the job. She also gave safety advice. She helped us to make decisions about the design of our Mosaic - we both had ideas, and Fiona was able to use her knowledge to help us to decide what was achievable as beginners and in the time available - I must add that my friends chosen design could have been considered quite detailed for a beginner, and yet Fiona was encouraging from the start. She knew that we were both 'crafters' and made us feel supported enough to achieve our goals. Fiona worked alongside us rather than watching over our shoulder, which we both appreciated, but she was always there to offer advice on technique, colour, and to cut a few tiles for us if we were concerned about finishing. We totally relaxed into the task, chatted as if we had known each other forever, and had the most wonderful day - and at the end of it we had both produced a piece of work that we loved and felt very proud of ourselves! Fiona sent us home with a bag of grout to finish the Mosaic when the adhesive has totally dried (in a day or 2) and we have promised to send her a photo each. I feel the price of the workshop was spot on, and at no time did Fiona make us feel hurried. I would certainly recommend, and will very likely treat myself to another day with her - I fancy making a set of coasters! Thank you to Fiona - a lady who is very talented at her chosen craft, makes a perfect cuppa, and is just really nice and easy to work alongside. I feel the bug has bitten!!! Always dangerous and usually expensive!! "

David Evans reviewed: Lino printing landscapes

"I have done two one day courses with Lee Wright. Both days were an absolute delight. The course was attended by three other people, each of us at the same beginner level. With a small number of people Lee was able to give close attention to each of our efforts. Very informative with all materials supplied. Lots of practical advice and help. I highly recommend Lee as a teacher. "

Richard reviewed: Getting Started with Stained Glass - two day workshop

"Jan was very experienced and knowledgeable, also a great teacher. No pressure and plenty of cups of tea. I came away having successfully made a leaded light panel of a dozen or so elements and I am confident in my ability to move forward on my own, although Jan said she's always ready to help if we get stuck. I really feel that she wants to encourage more people to take up the craft and succeed at it."

"Joy was a patient tutor and able to split her time equally amongst students of many levels. Regrettably the morning got off to a bad start and was spoilt by the extraordinarily rude reception we received from the person in the main shop. "
