Freddie Raymond reviewed: Chair making on Camb/Suffolk border

"I booked this course having been inspired by Bill's Introduction to Woodworking course and it delivered everything I had hoped for and more. The days were well-paced, low-pressure and offered lots of variety. When there were multiple options for how to achieve an effect, Bill would often take us through them, offering plenty of insight and useful advice. By the end, I was able to feel a real sense of achievement at having created the chair, but also some independence - as a complete novice except for this and the Introduction course, I still felt by the end that I could replicate the process decently and carry the skills over to many more woodworking projects to come. I would highly recommend this course. Tremendous fun!"

"Brian has a great sense of humour which he needed to have with me. He was very patient, encouraging and helpful. He is very knowledgeable about all stained glass techniques and adapts his teaching to all skill levels even complete beginners! "This is a fantastic course where you will learn all of the fundamental techniques for creating your own Stained Glass panel. Brian is an excellent tutor with many years of experience and he will help you get the very best out of the design and the piece that you create. I really enjoyed the course and am already looking forward to booking again so that I can create another piece. The course is run in a fantastic studio surrounded by Brian’s works of art. Aletha Hanson reviewed: Introduction to leatherwork with Armitage Leather

"I sew but have never worked with leather. The course responded to my interests, was hands-on and we covered a lot of ground. Nigel is a natural teacher, personable and encouraging, giving you space to have a go while remaining on hand so that errors can be caught early, resolved and learned from. I enjoyed working in such a well-furnished workshop and with the high quality tools. A door has been opened to me and I am so pleased I booked the day. The coffee was great too!"

Helen and Paul reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"Wow, what a superb day we had with Chris - he is an excellent teacher - patient, flexible and fun. He tailored the day to our needs and skill and we both had a marvellous time, and now have the most amazing memories (and keyrings) that we will treasure. The day is physically demanding (neither of us are in physically active jobs normally) but Chris moderated the pace to suit us and as such it would suit a huge range of people (as long as you are interested in all aspects of the blacksmith experience). The safety briefing and his pre-course information were excellent. Chris was prepared to chat and when we started asking questions he impressed us with his extensive knowledge and his excellent portfolio of artistic pieces (commissions and sales were available but he didn't promote that.) A forge is not a luxurious place (nor should it be!) and as such be prepared to get stuck in and work hard. We recommend this course without hesitation - worth every penny!"

Wendy Barnett reviewed: Wire bird sculpture workshop using black iron

"Sue Fage never disappoints she is so creative and her enthusiasm is infectious and inspiring. I had never done this type of crafting before but I needn’t have worried Sue has great patience and she encouraged us all to get creative but helped us when needed. I came away with a beautiful wall hanging beach scene and I can’t wait for the next course in April. I would highly recommend La Fage Arts ??"

La Fage Arts responded:

"Thank you Wendy...so glad you enjoyed glass fusing, and are returning for more!!"

Mark & Sarah Lewis reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"Sarah and I booked a joint single day course with Colin and we were really impressed with his professional but relaxed approach, his knowledge and expertise, his patience and his ability to work with people with different skill levels. We felt we learnt so much in a single day. Colin answered every question no matter how simple and gave us both confidence to try everything before us. We have recently acquired a second hand lathe and Colin invited us to bring the lathe chisels, which he assessed, explained their uses and sharpened. All in all we got everything out of the day we could have hoped for and more....and left with a great bowl each! A brilliant day!"

Devon Wood Crafts responded:

"Thank you Mark and Sarah. I enjoyed the day too. Happy Turning!"

"As a first timer this has been a great experience. I found it very relaxing and therapeutic. Bob and Joe are great at what they do and teach. The workshop numbers (max 8) are great so Bob and Joe are able to provide attention to each of us when required. I'm booked for my 2nd workshop and my husband in tow this time. Thoroughly recommend."

Maximo Castagno reviewed: 2 Day Leather Practical Skills Course

"This 2-day course is just brilliant! I've tried to figure out stuff on my own for nearly 3 years only because I didn't know a course like this existed... If you're interested in this amazing craft, this course is the way to go. I've enjoyed every minute of it, I still have a lot to digest and try on my own, and a few very interesting suppliers to visit. Thank you so much, Richard."

HELEN WAKELING reviewed: Beginners sewing and quilting at Spools and Scissors Suffolk

"Having recently decided to try more crafts I thought that rather than relying on YouTube I would rather have lessons with a real person. Tracey's beginners bag course resulted in my taking home a beautiful unique bag but possibly more importantly the confidence to make more things using the skills learnt. Tracey is a fantastic teacher, sharing her knowledge and giving constant feedback on progress in a such a friendly way. The small class size (there were just two of us on this occasion) meant that there is great supervision and assistance whenever required. Thank you!"

Linda Harvey reviewed: Jan 2022 10 wk classes Art 4 All weekly classes in Rocking House Studios with Shirley Davis Dew

"Shirley's demonstrations are very good, however, I feel she favours long-standing members."

Shirley Davis Dew. Art 4 All responded:

"Hello Lynda , Thank you for responding to my request for feedback. I will take on board your comments. I do hope you don't feel neglected, as you have been attending the weekly classes for many months and I consider you a long- standing valued member. I appreciate some of the class are boisterous and can appear to have more attention. It is never my intention to favour anyone over any other one. We have many new people joining at any given time. ( 5 new people joined this term.) This meant I had to help them little more than the others for the first couple of weeks. As you know I always do a demo's each week aiming to encourage individuals to develop their own style of painting and become confident in expressing their own personality. I aim during the class to have been to visit each person at least twice to advise / guide them in their painting technique. Again thank you for expressing your thoughts. See you on Wednesday. Shirley x"

Woodcarving Course reviewed: Woodcarving Beginners one day

"This was a one day introductory course. The day was superb in every respect. The quality of instruction, the opportunities to try the techniques and the fact that an artefact (a carved shell) was the outcome of the day made for an excellent introduction. I can recommend such a course and the quality of Gerald Adams' coaching without a single reservation. In addition, the refreshments and lunch made for a great atmosphere."
