Esther reviewed: Saturday (fortnightly) Bobbin Lace Making - Daytime Mixed Lace Classes (Effingham, Surrey).

"It was a wonderful experience. I was a total beginner, but Tina was so kind and patient. The whole day was a lovely experience, as have tea and cake, and a nice environment. More importantly, Tina explained it so well and didn't mind sharing her knowledge. You don't need to buy a lot of tools, etc. to experience it, they will provide it for the student, which is way easier for a new beginner to try it out. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. "

Tina's Bobbin Lacemaking responded:

"Hello Esther It was a pleasure to meet you and teach someone who was so excited in learning a new skill. I know that you have been practicing and looking forward to seeing your samples and taking you forward in your lace making journey. Regards Tina"

"I can silversmith but I’ve lost my mojo a little in recent years due to personal circumstances . I did the course with my sister who hadn’t done any silversmithing before and I have to say I really enjoyed it . You can tell she is a skilled teacher - I loved her approach and I learned a few things too. I would recommend 🙂"

Sue reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"A brilliant weekend. This was my first time with Jo having been recommended by a friend. I was thrilled to come home with a sculpture that I am really proud of. Jo guides you through the process but encourages you to develop your own ideas. The studio is a superb environment to work in, surrounded by a garden full of sculptures for inspiration. "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Sue Your leaping hare was a great success and the rusty finish will keep developing over the next few weeks. Also glad you enjoyed making your little clay pig on day 2 whilst waiting for paint to dry on your main sculpture! Jo x"

M and J reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"We both really enjoyed the day. Much to our surprise – we were complete beginners - we each managed to complete a running duck. Kate gave clear instructions and helped with the tricky bits. She had already prepared the feet, and the willow ball one starts off with, which meant we could do it all in a day. Her husband made a lovely lunch of some pizza, well-filled cobs, some crisps, and water. Tea and coffee available throughout. A wonderful and productive day."

Angie Weston reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Another brilliant two day workshop with Jo. This time making a running hare to join my leaping hare. Jo is such a brilliant tutor and makes everyone feel relaxed from the moment they arrive. Working on a sculpture is so therapeutic in such a calm environment. Not forgetting Andy (Jo's husband) who makes the armatures from which the sculptures are formed and take on a life of their own. I would highly recommend either the one or two day courses as no previous experience is necessary. Thank you Jo!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Angie It was fabulous having you back in the studio to create a companion to your original large leaping hare made last year. I look forward to seeing a photo of them together! Don't hesitate to make contact if you have any questions before applying the rust finish to your original hare using the products I supplied. It is a great effect! Jo xx"

Penny reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"The lovely tranquil setting and delightfully relaxed atmosphere of Sebastian's workshop soon put me at ease, despite having absolutely no idea of how to begin creating my sculpture. Sebastian provides just the right balance between instruction/assistance/encouragement at whatever level is needed (lots of all three in my case!). I ended up going home with a sculpture I was very pleased with, having had a most enjoyable and rewarding weekend. I would thoroughly recommend this course,"

Mo Brown reviewed: Creating automata - weekend course. Explore the combination of movement and materials such as wood, wire, metal tube and sheet, found objects and figures.

"Well that was great - rummaging through collections of old tins, strange bits of machinery and all kinds of oddments for pieces to make our creations individual and fabulous! Fi shared her know-how and demonstrated the mechanisms. She showed us how to use the tools and patiently sorted any glitches. It was a really enjoyable, relaxed weekend in well equipped workshops with friendly people. I am very pleased with what I achieved and my automata will remind me of a happy time."

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Thank you Mo for your review and Im so glad you had a good weekend. Lovely to hear that you enjoyed making some new . Ive sent a copy of what you said along to Fi too Best wishes Pam "

Jim Bamford reviewed: 3 hour Silver jewellery course

"I bought this course as present for my wife, we both loved it and under Richards expert guidance came away with a matching pair of silver rings that we cannot believe we actually managed to make ourselves. Richard and his wife were very welcoming, Richard coached us through the ring making with patience and great depth of knowledge. I cannot recommend this course highly enough. "
