Alan Rowe reviewed: Spoon carving workshop with Fazey Woodcraft

"I bought this course because I wanted to know about spoon carving. Jack was a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor. He managed to get the information over very clearly for a mixed group of people. I went home with a nearly finished spoon and a part formed spoon. I would highly recommend Jacks course to anybody."

Fazey Woodcraft responded:

"Hi Alan, it was great to meet you and thanks for the lovely review. Good luck sorting that old hook knife out! Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any issues! Jack"

Jacqui Hobson reviewed: One day stained glass classes by Le Breton Traditional

"I had the most amazing day on the stained glass making course. Matt is exceptional and I learned so much throughout the session. I had never done any stained glass making before and managed to produce a gorgeous light shade with six small panels. Matt introduced the history of stained glass and quickly moved us on to practice cutting before we were ready for choosing colours, making the shapes fit to the design and using fantastic equipment to make smoothing off easy. We had learned how to copper foil and solder in the tiffany style by the early afternoon. Matt was so helpful and knowledgable and passed this on to us with care, enthusiasm and supported every member of the group so that everyone left at the end of the day with a beautifully finished piece of work. I'll definitely be going back for more."

Laura Ranson reviewed: Jewellery Workshop - Make a Silver Ring

"Me and my partner had such a lovely day learning to make rings. Sheila was such an attentive host and guide , and was able to take us through the whole process. We came away with 2 engagement rings- she was even able to accommodate mine to be made out of brass as I do not wear silver. We would love to try it again- thanks Sheila for a very special day!"

Sheila Roussel Jewellery Design responded:

"So glad you both enjoyed the workshop. It was a pleasure to work with you. Please get in touch if you’d like to make earrings or a pendant in the future."

Lucy reviewed: 'Sunset' wool fibre painting kit

"Great wool painting kit that contains everything you need to make a beautiful wool painting! The kit was delivered quickly and I used the kit at the Sunset wool painting workshop online. I really enjoyed making the Sunset picture following Raya's clear step by step instructions. It was great fun learning this amazing, therapeutic art together, with other beginners working alongside Raya. Thank you so much, Raya Brown, for an enjoyable course and great wool painting kit. I am going to buy another one of Raya's wool painting kits, the Field with red poppies, and make a picture for my mother."

Mark Crowther reviewed: Dagger making for two in the blacksmith's forge

"A great day's course making a dagger that came out far better than my son and I expected! The workshop/school was well equipped and everything had been made ready (forge fired up, tools on hand, metal cut) for us to start working straight away, after the Health & Safety briefing. With not a moment wasted, our instructor, Will, introduced himself and ran through the basics of what we were to do. He showed us the techniques and approaches, found the best tools for us to use and left us to it at each stage - though he was always on hand in case we needed a bit if help or guidance to make sure things stayed on track. The overall design of the dagger was left up to us and we worked on the metal through the day (with a great lunch delivered by the Garway Moon Inn). Once the metalwork was done we were then shown how to clean the metal up with an angel grinder, how to make the handle on the lathe (with some creative suggestions from Will again) and then some final touches by Will to drill and tap the tang to get the pommel on. Overall, a great experience that will be a fond memory for my teen son and I for years to come. Can't fault the experience in any way. Great place, great atmosphere and incredible value for money. We were blessed to have Will as our instructor, he really knows his crafting and how to give just the right amount of support that adds to the experience. I suspect we'll be going back in the near future!"

David Rodwell reviewed: One day stained glass classes by Le Breton Traditional

"Had a fantastic day. Matt is a great teacher, very informative and has enough time for everyone. As is at present, mask wearing isn’t really an issue, you may fog up a bit with your safety glasses, but you aren’t wearing the glasses all the time, so all good. If you are thinking about doing a stained glass workshop, stop thinking and book, you wont be disappointed. So much to learn, i really think I will be doing another in the near future."

Estrela Brown reviewed: An Introduction to Glass Fusing

"My cousin and I spent an amazing day with Dorothy who has the patience of a saint and helped us with our ever ending questions and design ideas. She explained how the glass worked and what we could achieve with them, as novices we found she pitched it to us absolutely perfectly. We created four items each and had so much fun doing each of them - cannot wait to see how they turn out ! Cannot highly recommend a day with Dorothy enough and I will be going back for another day to play with glass. Thank you Dorothy for your wonderful welcome and all your hard work with us."

All Things Glass responded:

"Thanks very much Estrela, glad you enjoyed your day, & your glass is now fired & looks great. Look forward to seeing you again Regards Dorothy"

Chris Henley reviewed: Sculptural willow weaving - Animals

"Really good day. Attending as a complete novice to Willow-weaving and something of a novice to making anything that looks like what it's supposed to be. I received just the right amount of assistance from Stephen who was knowledgeable, personable and kind. Friends and family all recognised my sculpture - although, to be honest, I only decided I was making a pig after it started to look like one. Highly recommended."

Brigit Chisholm reviewed: Willow sculpture workshop at Tresillian House

"I so enjoyed my days course. We were 4 in the class in a warm garden room in Alison's garden. All equipment is provided with hot drinks and an excellent warm lunch. I was told I was being ambitious for a novice, with my desire to make a pig-who tried to leave as Dumbo until Kate sorted his ears- he is of course now perfect!! I started as a novice and loved the skill and tuition that Kate gave us -moulding the weaving into muscles to get a great look. I drove a long way for a course I really wanted to do- Nil regrets and a stunning pig! Thank you Kate for great teaching and such a good day. Thank you Alison for a smashing stay the night before - made it very relaxing 10/10 -thoroughly recommend this course."

Sally reviewed: One day leather work course - small leather goods

"What a wonderful weekend! I completed the 2 day course with my daughter, and we are so proud of the matching bags we both made. Jason and Louise pitch the course perfectly for complete novices or those with a little experience. Since the group is so small you receive a lot of 1 to 1 attention when you need it, but are left to progress with each task once you feel confident; there is absolutely no rush, each person works at their own pace. They both go out of their way to make you feel comfortable in their impressive studio located in such a fantastic old mill. As mentioned in many other reviews they are so knowledgeable, patient and have a real passion for the craft they are sharing. I absolutely loved the whole learning experience and would not hesitate to return for the 3 day course."

Alexandra Russell reviewed: Beginners Mosaics Workshops near Exeter, Devon

"I can highly recommend this course. We were given such a warm welcome and Denny is a lovely teacher - encouraging, informative (and very very patient!). The venue, a garden studio in a lovely setting, was well set up and comfortable. The pace and length of the day felt just right, it was never pressurised but was enough time to make something nice. I have been dabbling in mosaics once in a while ever since 2006 and I can honestly say the mosaic I made on this course is the only one I am completely happy with - I love it! I'm feeling very inspired to continue with the style I learned and I will be returning for the intermediate course soon. And I don't eat cake but I am reliably informed that it was delicious."

MosaicXandMe responded:

"Thank you so much for this lovely review, Alex! It’s very gratifying to get these sort of comments and to know you enjoyed the day. I look forward to seeing you and Rosemary again soon. Best wishes Denny"
