Nick Bennett reviewed: English longbow making weekend in the heart of Nailsworth Gloucestershire

"This is a brilliant course led by Gavin and Tom, two fantastic tutors who truly understand their subject and effortlessly create a relaxed atmosphere. The time flew by but by the end everyone, no matter how little experience they had at the start of the weekend, finished with a beautiful bow and string. Highly recommend the experience and sense of achievement. "

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Thank you Nick - both for the review and taking the time to do it. So glad you enjoyed the weekend and we wish you many happy hours of shooting."

Jonathan Anderson reviewed: One day welding course: an introduction

"This was a fantastic course; I've been interested in learning to weld for a while and this course covered everything one would need. I was primarily interested in MiG welding but Julian was extremely experienced and knowledgeable of the other varieties, and explained all their applications. The different welding techniques were covered with lots of hands on practice and examples of when it would be appropriate to use each one. I left wanting to do more at home!"

Julian Wadsworth - Artist Blacksmith responded:

"Hi Jonathan, Thankyou for your review. I am pleased you had a good day, and very happy with your new welding skill . Good luck with your projects, I'm sure you will manage just fine. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or just need a bit of help or advice. Best Regards, Julian"

Thomas Woolley reviewed: English longbow making weekend in the heart of Nailsworth Gloucestershire

"A wonderful weekend! The two tutors, Gav and Tom, were clear, helpful, humorous and always watching to ensure that no one was stuck for long. The resources, materials and equipment provided were all plentiful and of good quality. The timing is tight, but achievable and you are never felt rushed beyond your capabilities. I haven't used my bow yet, but even if I never do, the final product is beautiful and lovely to hold."

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Thank you Thomas. Great that you had a good weekend - so glad you enjoyed the workshop in all its aspects Enjoy your bow. "

Dawn reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Had a great weekend with Jo, Andy and my fellow sculptors. Jo is very welcoming, well organised and hospitable, gave clear demonstrations and lots of support, giving everyone the confidence to complete some genius works of art. Beautiful surroundings despite the slightly grey January weather. It was so exciting to see the wonderful armature first thing, a work of art in it's own right so I couldn't go wrong. Great value, inspiration and encouragement, thank you!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Dawn 😄 - I just loved your water spouting gargoyle, and keeping Andy's steel curved armature spine showing above the plasterwork was brilliant! I cannot wait to see a photo of it in-situ. Fabulous work in such a limited timeframe - well done. Jo xx"

Gemma reviewed: Introduction to Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"I could not recommend this more highly. My sister and I had a great day. Judith was extremely supportive but also gave you the space to be creative. The small group of 4 meant she had time with everyone. We started by sketching ideas, then tracing them and cutting the lino. Finally printing it with a variety of papers and colours. We took our own lunch but refreshments were provided all day. I would recommend coming with some clear ideas of what you want you picture to be. Otherwise that could take up a lot of your day just deciding what to draw. We had such a great day and were really proud of what we created."

print paper stitch experiences responded:

"Thank you Gemma, you and Suzie both created beautiful prints and really added to the buzzy atmosphere. It was a pleasure to meet and work with you both. Can't wait to see what you print next!"

"My daughter and I did this workshop last week and loved it ... very therapeutic. Emma is a friendly helpful tutor, very patient with novices and quick to respond to every question. The day flew by, and depending on our how pieces look after the firing (!!) I may well be back for another go."

Sheena D reviewed: Create with a Gel Printing Plate - Mono Printing Without a Press

"My friend and I arrived on an incredibly wet and windy Saturday into the warm and inviting stable block. We were lucky enough to be part of a very small group so we had lots of expert attention from Alison. She guided us through the process in an easy to understand way and as a complete beginner I was thankful the pace was slow. Once you start making your prints you are completely hooked, every print is a magical discovery and once you start using layers the excitement builds. I came away with 50 prints and I have so many more ideas just waiting to be explored. Alison guides you throughout and is equally enthusiastic about all art produced. We just used one 6x6 gel plate for this course and Alison had a big bucket of paints to borrow but we also took some of our own. Hot drinks were offered frequently and we had the best homemade brownies ever! This course is suitable for literally anyone and is so much fun the hours just shot by. You are given a goodie bag with most importantly well written instructions. I cannot wait to see where my next session of gel printing takes me. Thank you Alison, you may have guessed by now that I loved it. :)"

Blooming Designs - Art in the Barn responded:

"Dear Sheena, Thank you so much for your feedback, it was really great to meet you and Cathryn at last and it was a pleasure to spend the day teaching you both ! I think you both produced some lovely work and have lots to work with and develop at home now that you both have the basic skills . The great thing about Gel plate printing is you never know what you are going to get which is half the fun and what makes it so addictive. Keep up the good work! Happy printing ! Best wishes Alison"

Victoria reviewed: Blacksmithing Taster Experience

"A birthday gift for my 10 year old. He did the 3 hour experience ( 2nd year in a row) and once again loved it. The team are brilliant and what he made was amazing. It is a loud environment ( to be expected when lots of people are hitting metal with hammers) but felt safe and well organised. This will be on the wish list for future gifts. "

Alison Hampson reviewed: French Polishing workshop full day with Rob Cain

"Excellent informative and instructive hands on course- Rob is great at explaining and demonstrating techniques. He gives you confidence to continue on your own but is also happy to answer any questions. He is enthusiastic and instils that in the participants- so much so I’ve rushed out to buy the necessary stuff and have a project lined up! It was the best 4 hours I’ve spent on a mindful activity and the ambiance of the studio set at the back of his shop, the herbal tea and if you are lucky sticky gingerbread all helped to make it a thoroughly enriching experience! Thanks Rob"

The Old Polishing Shop responded:

"Thanks Alison , it was so great to spend the day with you , and I'm absolutely sure you will be ready to some great restoration jobs, seeing how you soaked up the experience and produced cracking results , here if you need me for any advise , all the very best for this year , speak soon Rob "
