Graeme Gallimore reviewed: Introduction to green woodworking at Sallerton Wood

"What a great way to spend a day working in a beautiful woodland, with natural materials from the site, and creating a little piece of carving to be proud of. Thoroughly enjoyed the tutoring, and other guests company, making a memory that I will look back on very fondly. PS. take care, them tools are bloomin sharp :-)"

Irene reviewed: Beginners DIY & Home Maintenance Workshop in Warrington, Cheshire (1 Day)

"A most enjoyable day and Jo was a good teacher. Whilst I knew a little diy, I did not have the confidence to do some of the basics. I now feel confident to tackle some of the jobs myself. Thank you. Ps a lovely venue "

Mathew/ Colin Berry reviewed: Damascus knife making in Grassington

"What a great day and experience, I would recommend to anybody. All ages and sizes would be able to craft one of these amazing knifes. Don't think you wouldn't be able to complete. Myself and my 73 year old father had a great time with Richard his knowledge, skill and equipment were great. If you've ever watched Forged in Fire or any TV show like that, this is you next step!!"

Louise D reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"Just finished the 5 day course and I am setting off with my step stool in the car feeling proud as punch. The whole week was great, excellent tuition, not only to complete your project but also on wider woodworking subjects. The workshop is cosy with tea and coffee and biscuits. This week I have used lots of clever woodworking machines (with great supervision and explanation to boost confidence and stay safe) as well as the more basic chisels and scrapers that I used at school a million years ago. I’d recommend this course to everyone. Deeply enjoyable to make something from beautiful wood. Thanks to Mark. "

Lily reviewed: Gem cutting - cabochon cutting and an introduction to faceting

"This was an excellent introduction for me to gem cutting. James had a really pleasant pace of teaching. Cutting the cabochon was a completely new and alien experience for me, but there was no pressure and I had good doses of guidance in combination with a freedom to explore. "

Ginny reviewed: Introduction to table loom weaving, Fisherton Mill, Salisbury - Two day workshop

"Fabulous two day table loom workshop, from warping to cloth. A well structured two days with clear instructions, and an opportunity for each participant to go at our own pace. Ellie is very patient and has a way of keeping things simple and easy to understand, which meant the task of warping the 4 shaft loom was a calm and enjoyable experience and one that I feel confident that I could repeat independently. The class size of 3 meant we all got so much support and guidance. Once the loom was dressed, the second day was spent exploring weaving patterns. All materials were included in the course fee and we were spoilt for choice. I was delighted that beautiful naturally dyed threads were available to use as well as organic cotton and linens. I am so pleased I invested in this two days, definitely great value and a good kick start for anyone wanting to get into weaving. Thank you Ellie! "

Elka responded:

"Thank you so much Ginny for such a lovely and detailed review, and for coming. I’m delighted that you enjoyed the workshop and feel that you’ll be able to get going with weaving at home. I’m looking forward to following your weaving journey and I’m here for any questions that may arise moving forwards. "

Rose Carpenter reviewed: Quilt in a Day, one-to-one course with Amanda Jane Ogden

"Having only signed up for the quilt in a day one-to-one course two days before it started, Amanda communicated with me straight away to prepare us both for the day. Amanda is the perfect teacher, kind, patient and completely brilliant at guiding you through the intricacies of quilt making. I've learnt so much and feel confident enough to get going on some projects of my own. We are both passionate about sustainability so we were able to share these values too. Can't recommend this day course highly enough. "

Amanda Jane Textiles responded:

"Thank you so much for this review, Rose. You produced a really excellent quilt, well done! Amanda"

Lucy and Bethany reviewed: Nettle Fibre Workshop

"Interesting and fun course, covered the topic well given the time frame and was very informative. A bit more info on the carding would have been useful as I don't think anyone was familiar with it at all, but it was overall a good introduction. Many thanks :) "

BeeKayMakes responded:

"Hi Lucy and Bethany, thank you for taking the time to write a review, much appreciated! It was great to have you both on the workshop :) I am so happy that you enjoyed 'nettling' for a day. Yes, we did cover a lot of textile techniques that day and hand carding is a bit tricky. However, your carded nettle fluff looked great, so you did it very well! I hope you will continue to have nettle fun in the future :) Bee 🌿🌿"

"My husband bought me this experience because I love Forged in Fire. The experience I had was excellent! Graham and the team were so welcoming and very patient… took me a while to hammer out the steel! They show you what to do but you really are the one making the blade. It was so much fun, would definitely recommend. Still can’t believe I forged a knife!"

Janet Tai reviewed: Fused glass art for the garden

"Had a wonderful day with Diane in the Fused Glass workshop. Diane is easy going and offers plenty of encouragement and ideas. I was delighted with the artwork that I made for the garden. You don’t need to be arty to produce something original and eye catching. It’s a wonderful place to come with friends to chat and craft. Would like to come back and make some Christmas gifts. There’s a great cafe on the site and Diane’s shop is full of original art work and gifts. Thanks Diane"

Crafty Diane Gift Shop, Art Gallery and Craft workshops responded:

"Thanks Janet. You did really well and you are “arty” ;) Look forward to seeing you for a Christmas workshop x"
