Neil Walton reviewed: Spoon carving and Whittling Day

"A super day of spoon carving with Colin and Sarah. A birthday gift from my son, we did the day at Harehope together. Excellent instruction from the start soon had us using the tools with a degree of confidence and really enjoying the process, the company and the surroundings. Colin and Sarah obviously have many years experience in teaching, guiding and gently steering you through the necessary processes in a very informative, safe and enjoyable way. They also have a lovely way of making the day quite meditative, relaxing and enriching. A lovely way to spend a day with my son and hopefully the start to another mindful and rewarding hobby in retirement."

The Wiggly Path Company responded:

"Thank you Neil We both had a splendid day with you and James and are glad you both had a nice time, it was lovely to work with you, as you both had an appreciation for what we are trying to accomplish at Harehope and an understanding of working with nature. You should both be very proud of the artefacts you created in the first few hours of your journey. We sincerely hope you take up this rewarding and additive hobby. Very best wishes Colin and Sarah "

Alan House reviewed: Blacksmithing course - spend a day in the forge

"I enjoyed the day and the experience of working in the forge. Richard has a free-style of teaching to your needs and was always available for advice or to demonstrate a technique. I had a few ideas of things I wanted to make and succeeded in the end. We had a group of four of us all making different things with the steel provided. There is plenty of space and tools to use. I now know something of the shades of orange! "

Red Anvil School of Blacksmithing responded:

"Good morning Alan, thank you for your kind review. It’s great that you felt you could explore your ideas and you were able to fulfil them. I’m really pleased that my skills can be passed on to others and you have certainly shown your ability and skill. Richard "

Tracey Frost reviewed: Stained Glass using the Copper Foil Technique

"My sister bought me a course for Christmas and we attended today for a fabulous informative day with Elaine. Workshop in her beautiful garden - lots of choices in design and examples to choose from. Elaine was super helpful and very supportive to us two very “uncrafty” newbies to working with glass. With help we both came away with pieces of art that are beautiful and will continue to bring delight every time we look at then. Elaine’s hospitality was exemplary, even making us a cup of tea with our lunch and the cuddles with her very well behaved dogs was an added bonus - would recommend 100 % "

Stained Glass by Elaine Alexandra responded:

"Hi Tracey Thank you taking the time to review your day with me. Most people who come on this course are "newbies" to stained glass and I am always really pleased to see someone create their chosen project learning new techniques and leaving at the end of the workshop with something they will enjoy for years to come. These are skills which can be built on if you choose to do another workshop and with practice it does get easier. With Best Wishes Elaine"

Michael reviewed: Beginners Woodturning

"Good day and an enjoyable experience... As a complete novice, Roger showed me the ropes and helped me along the way to making a very nice and professional looking bowl... Seeing a square of wood turn into a smooth, shiny bowl that is now decorating my home was really satisfying... Cups of tea and a refreshing sandwich lunch provided... I would recommend Roger and his courses for beginner and experienced turners alike... "

"What a lovely day! My daughter & I booked a half day to make some beads with Ruth. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. With absolutely no prior glass bead making experience we came away with a small number of really beautiful, fully formed, extremely precious beads! Ruth was wonderfully patient, very welcoming and gave great instruction. I've followed up this half day of lampwork with a full day just for myself..."

Joy reviewed: Drop Spindle Hand Spinning Taster Workshop

"I had a wonderful time learning the drop spindle. Theresa is really knowledgeable and was able to quickly see where improvements could be made (and also dealt with having a left-hander!) By the end of the session, I'd not just spun a thread, but been shown how to ply two pieces together and now have a very respectable little length of wool for my weaving projects! (Also, thank you, Theresa, for the gift bag of wool and spindle - I've been keeping up my practice!)"

The Spinning Barn responded:

"Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your day and glad to hear that you are still spinning on your spindle. Keep up the good work. Theresa x"

Evie reviewed: Swans - Adult Beginners / Improvers Needle Felting workshop

"Natalie was a friendly, patient, and really pastoral teacher with all attendees. The class had a lovely feel, everyone was made to feel very welcome. The objective of the class was made clear from the start with an demo of what we were making in the centre of the table. The steps involved were explained cumulatively and Natalie was so careful to stress that everyone should go at their own rate. Also, needless (or should I see needleless!) to say that felting involves lots of sharp pointy objects. The health and safety was explained really clearly. "

Ruth reviewed: Crafty Basketry's Willow Basket Making for Beginners/Improvers - Day Course at Cowshed Workshop, Tenterden, Kent

"This was a very rewarding day and as someone who feels they have no natural talent or skill, I came away with a beautiful basket and new skills, so a great success! And that was thanks to Marianne, our calm, kind and knowledgeable course leader. The Cowshed Workshop is an inspiring space being absolutely in the middle of nowhere, beautifully decorated and there was plentiful tea, coffee, fruit and cake to enjoy all day long - as well as the gorgeous roaming animals that drift in and out. All in all, a delightful day 😊"

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Thank you very much for your super 5-star review, Ruth! You deserve 5 stars as well, as I think you've got the creative vibe in your fingers and have an intuitive way of learning. I hope you'll go and explore what else you may not be aware of you've got in you. It's always amazing how one thing leads to another and before you know it, you're a craftsperson yourself! Look forward to seeing you and your friend back again, perhaps to weave some plant supports or lampshade!"

Lynne Friel responded:

"Thank you David for your kind words. I really enjoyed the day and it's great watching people take away the journals they've worked so hard at. Using the rather special buttons that you brought made your journals very much your own. Hope to see you again in the future. Best wishes Lynne"
