Tamsin was warm and welcoming from the outset, she has a relaxed and friendly teaching style, very encouraging and nurturing. Her garden studio is a comfortable creative workspace with a her own Mandela artwork on display to show some of what is possible and fill her students with inspiration. Sarah T reviewed: Brush Calligraphy Workshop - Saturday Afternoons

"This was a brilliant course that went by so quickly, but I learnt so much. A really enjoyable and peaceful afternoon. Jen was a brilliant teacher and gave everyone a lot of individual encouragement and helpful suggestions. I feel like I've got a good foundation to continue practicing from, and would definitely recommend this course to anyone, very beginner friendly but I think I would still learn a lot going on this exact course again!"

Nicky reviewed: Lamp glass bead making

"Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Neither of us had done lamp glass bead making so it really was learning something new. Jade is so patient and guided us through techniques to make an array of beautiful beads. I even managed to develop my own Mr Whippy technique, which added to the unique design. We left with some gorgeous beads, for keyrings, necklaces, and sea 🌊 pendant. Thank you to Ian, you are a great team and we will be back."

Goldwrightsjewelleryschool responded:

"It was such a lovely afternoon and the Mr Whippy technique worked out very well :) Thank you for coming xx"

Stuart reviewed: Willow Animal Sculpture (2 days) in the Peak District

"Have just spent a great couple of days willow weaving an animal sculpture. I made a fox and my wife made a squirrel. The location and facilities were great, despite the weather being cold and damp we worked outside and only ventured inside for lunch. The hosts were very welcoming and the food and cake were top notch. As for Caroline, the instructor, she was very patient, engaging, informative and able to adapt her teaching method to suit the students. Would definitely recommend."

Zantium Studios Ltd responded:

"Thankyou Stuart. I will be sure to pass on your positive feedback to Caroline Gregson. She is a great tutor and always manages to create amazing results with complete beginners. Thanks for recommending us here at Zantium Studios."

Clodagh Barker & Carola Warren reviewed: Building and weaving a side chair or arm chair at The Quiet Workshop

"My sister and I had a wonderful learning experience constructing our chairs together step by step over 6 days under the careful instruction of StJohn. He was the soul of patience, encouragement and a generous sharer of his own experience & skills. Bryony at frequent intervals during each day prepared delicious home made cakes & biscuits and healthy, energy boosting lunches! We so enjoyed our wide ranging conversations over meal times. We highly recommend the course not only for the end product (praised by all who see the chairs) but also as a wonderful way of sharing quality time with friends, family or like minded people. We feel that we have acquired skills with which we can build (or repair) our own furniture pieces."

The Quiet Workshop responded:

"Clodagh, Thank you so much for your review. It was lovely to have you and Carola in the workshop. Your chairs looked fantastic! We both look forward to seeing you again soon. StJohn & Bryony"

"I am a self taught amateur wood turner with a fair bit of practical experience but some serious holes in my technique. I spent a day with Simon mainly about sharpening tools but we covered a great deal of ground all of it fascinating and very useful. Lots to think about and I clearly need to go back for another session - or two….. "

Margarete reviewed: Free Machine Embroidery

"An excellent course - I had a great time! Ruth demonstrated everything very well and answered all our questions. I learned lots and left very inspired to try free machining on my own machine. It's really amazing what effects you can achieve with an ordinary sewing machine. (And I finally understood what tension is and how to change it and utilise it to get the desired effect.) Absolutely recommended!"

John C. reviewed: Damascus Steel Knife forging

"I was given a Craftcourses voucher and decided to try something new to me, a Damascus blade knife course at Hammer and Hound. It was great! Alex is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutor. It was a full on two day course but the time flew. Alex instructed the three of us what to do, explained why we were doing it and only stepped in when we started to slip behind schedule. At the end we each had an individual knife of our own design. Very happy with whole experience."

Simone reviewed: Sea Glass Jewellery Making Course - One day course (Reading)

"Basically just shown how to drill a hole in a piece of sea glass and then attach it to the most cheapest piece of chain and accessories. Definitely not worth the money!"

La Jade responded:

"I’m unsure why you would leave such a review as you said you both really enjoyed the course on the day! Also the course was a month ago and only now have left a review, this really does not make any sense…. Moreover, the findings and chain are all quality silver plaited."
