Matt Gould reviewed: Building and weaving a round stool at The Quiet Workshop

"Brilliant course run by brilliant people. The course (building and weaving a round stool) was incredibly interesting and StJohn's approach to teaching was exactly what I wanted - supportive and expert but also giving me the space to test/try (and mess up if needed but knowing there was always back-up or a way to fix a problem). The food was also DELICIOUS - Byrony's cooking and baking was a very welcome surprise during break and lunch times. Absolutely recommend this course (or any of the courses at The Quiet Workshop)."

The Quiet Workshop responded:

"Matt, Thanks for you review; it was really thoughtful. It was lovely to meet you. You did a great job on the stool and a produced a flawless seat weave. Best wishes, StJohn & Bryony"

Thomas Poole reviewed: Key skills for converting vans into campervans 2 day course

"I don’t usually do reviews unless it was something awful and have to warn others or if it is something so good it is definitely worth it. And this van conversation course was the latter!!!!! It was great! Scott had so much knowledge and the two days was filled with information and this information wasn’t random but specialised to your van build. However the only way to get the most out of it is if you/me ask loads of questions through out. And Scott wanted this also so he could tailor the course to the needs of what I was looking for in a van. Finally just be prepared for a lot of information in a short space of time which can be bad if you are not prepared for it but it is all incredibly important and beneficial information. Once again it was a great weekend and well worth the drive down there!! Thomas "

Black Paw upcycle project responded:

"thanks, Thomas for a lovely review. I grad you found it useful and fun. As you said it is best if you keep asking questions, so you get the best from the course. but I also like the challenge as everyone's van build is different and I love the puzzle of helping people get the most from the weekend"

Calum Nobles reviewed: Woodturning One to One Course

"I spent the day with Paul in a one-on-one tuition session. I have been turning for a couple of years without any lessons, and wanted to improve my technique. Oh and I wanted to start to master a Skew! The day was great, and Paul was a great tutor. I had more catches in one day with a Skew than I have had in six months ... but I learned. Now I just need to go and practice to cement the learnings. I would not hesitate to recommend him."

Paul Hannaby Creative Woodturning responded:

"Thanks for the feedback, good luck with your practice."

Peter Sage reviewed: Introduction to soap making

"What a great day, learned so much. Not within Sarah or anyone's gift, but research you route! Is you are not local and choise to drive, Google maps and satnav does send you on a picturesque route, north Devon has some loverly very minor roads, with grass up the middle....with a little research there is a direct route and it's loverly, just don't blindly follow satnav well worth the day out. Thank you"

HM reviewed: Spoon Carving - Sloyd Workshop

"Max is a gifted teacher and we spent a wonderful Sunday at his beautiful workshop. He teaches methodically, introducing each step of the carving process and new tool, and gives as much or as little assistance as you like. He really teaches to impart skills that can be used outside the workshop - sets you up well do go out and continue carving on your own, or return for another course. The wood blocks provided were special and have made for lovely spoons. Highly recommend spending a day with Max woodworking by the crackling fire! Coffee, tea, biscuits and lunch round out the day."

Max Sconyers III responded:

"Thanks so much HM! It was truly a pleasure to have you both in the workshop for the day. And, your spoons were so great! Happy Carving!"
