"If I could give this experience more stars I would! I wanted to book a surprise, unique course for my Fiance's birthday and smithing his own knife certainly seemed like something that would be up his street! Alex was super super helpful from start to finish and honestly made the day so fun, relaxed and entertaining. His enthusiasm and passion for his craft was so inspiring its definitely made us want to come back again! I had first reached out over WhatsApp to enquire about the course and he was more than happy to explain and help me understand everything to ensure that I had the right course and information. He even offered to have a look at any images I might be able to send to check that what my fiance would want to make would be okay in the session. When we arrived we received a super warm welcome and even though I was just watching and taking pictures he made sure everyone was super safe and that I was comfortable and had a great view to watch! My fiance crafted his own bushcraft knife to use when he goes camping and absolutely loved putting the effort and work in to have something super special he could come home with! Overall this was one of the best experiences we've had and I couldn't recommend this course enough to anyone even thinking about wanting to do something unusual and learn a new cool skill! Thanks so much Alex for making our day special!!"

"James was so welcoming and helpful (especially when we went to the wrong museum to find him!). He gave clear and informative instructions that allowed us both to fully dive into the experience. We had a lot of fun trying marbling for the first time and we left with many pretty creations. "

"Good fun day at the forge beating a length of iron into something that looks like a knife and then finishing it through the different phases of shaping, hardening, tempering and grinding then the final normalisation and polishing with an edge that can cut the hair on your arm. The sessions were well guided and the instructors were knowledgeable and could talk passionately about the subject. I would recommend this course."

"I loved this course. The environment was really nice and chill and I learned so much about trees, about wood, about how to think about carving and how to use the key tools needed for wood carving. I started with a log of chestnut and walked home with a spoon, and I feel like I have the knowledge to do the same thing again without supervision. I definitely want to pick up some tools of my own and practice the skills I learned in this workshop, and feel like I picked things up that day that will be useful for the rest of my life! Not only a great introduction to woodworking, since I came with zero prior knowledge, but also great to be able to learn from the knowledge of a professional taking the time to share mistakes and expertise with us so that we can understand how to go away and try our hand at this in our own time. Thank you so much for a great day! I was completely absorbed and learned a tonne!"

Only thing I would change would be to know before adding the colours that colours merge in the resin and so discrete patterns can’t be achieved. I look forward to doing the second part in the future. "We had a great time learning watercolour painting with Rachel. Neither of us had much experience but Rachel was very patient and provided good instruction, whilst also allowing us to crack on and do our own thing at times. She's also a very pleasant and interesting person and was nice to chat to. I would fully recommend this course if anyone is looking to give watercolour a go!"

"Myself and my Partner recently took part in Max's Sloyd workshop, and what a brilliant day it was! First off, he was very flexible with our dates and allowed us to change last minute due to work schedules. It was just the two of us and Max during our session, and he made us feel welcome and comfortable from the offset! Not only was he a fantastic and knowlagable teacher, he was also kind and encouraging, and overall a lovely person to spend and afternoon with. Leaving with our spoons have us a genuine feeling of accomplishment, and has left both of us wanting to continue our Sloyd journey! Bonus points for the fire/lovely environment Max has made in and around his workshop"

The venue is cosy and welcoming and Frances is an energetic and resourceful tutor who quickly puts you at your ease - nothing seems too much trouble. I learnt so much in my first venture - I was very pleased with the result and plan to do more mosaics in the future. "

"I had a lovely day learning how to make a bow. Matt is very knowledgeable and manages an excellent balance between showing you the tools and techniques, and helping out when needed. The location is beautiful, and well maintained. Despite taking the course in late autumn, we kept dry and warm in the shelter, and had lots of hot coffee! I'm very pleased with my final bow - it's exactly the right draw for me. Thank you!"

"My teenage granddaughter and myself did this course on her INSET day from school. We were the only 2 and ascduch got really good tuition and help from Vivien. We both completed our silver jewellery in the afternoon. The morning we spent working with copper/bronze to practice the techniques. It was very enjoyable, and relaxed. Our 'creations' have been greatly admired. A lovely memory making day! "
