Wax Carving for Jewellery Making - One Day Workshop - In Person, In London

X

Description

One day introduction to wax carving for jewellery making. Wax carving is a technique used to create masters for lost wax casting and is a great way to create more sculptural, 3D designs than would generally be possible to fabricate directly in metal. In this one day course, we cover the key skills to create a simple design, discuss and experiment with different waxes, and as well, with a variety of tools. Carve / model your own ring design, and/or a series of test pieces to try out different ideas. Maximum class size of 3 people at my dedicated workshop space here in Camden Town, London NW1 Course runs from 10am to 5pm with a one hour lunch break.

What's included in the price?

During the day you will work on your own variation of one or more simple ring designs, as these are the most straightforward to get started with. If you have a specific design in mind - please get in touch to discuss this in advance. Of course other shapes than rings can be carved, but often require a little more practice first. The fee includes; - your day of tuition - 10am to 5pm, use of all relevant tools, all wax and any other consumables needed for your test samples or projects, tea, coffee and refreshments. Lunch is not included, but there are many local cafes. You will leave with one or more carvings that you can choose to get cast into your chosen metal, as well as all the information you need to be able to do so, and to create more designs at home in your own time.

FAQs

My classes have a maximum of 3 students - or less.
This is partly to ensure everyone has adequate space and tools to work comfortably, but also to ensure each student can have the best experience and have enough support and attention to ensure that everyone can get as much as possible out of their day.

There is no allocated parking.
Parking is possible on the neighbouring streets - this is just standard on street parking - to pay digitally to the council. Or there are paid car parks not too far away.
I do not recommend driving unless you have no other option - the location is very well served by public transport.

I teach only those people over 18 years old. So only if your children are adults!

I'm very sorry but my space is not accessible - there are steps at the front door to enter the property, and the main workshop and toilet are both on the lower ground floor, downstairs. I am very sorry about this.

I am located in Camden Town - in central London - NW1 - just a 5 minute walk from either Camden Town station on the Northern Line tube, or also from Camden Road Overground station. Full address details provided with your booking confirmation.
