Pearl / Gemstone Knotting (Jewellery Making) - One Day Workshop - In Person, In London
Description
This is a one day introduction to pearl / gemstone bead knotting for jewellery making. Traditionally, expensive beads, especially pearls are knotted on strings of silk to create necklaces - the knots add decorative spacing between the beads, and of course also add the function of helping to stop delicate beads knocking on each other, and to hold the beads together should the string break... In this shortened one day course, we cover the key skills to confidently start to create your own knotted necklaces. Learn how to plan out, knot and securely add a clasp to create your jewellery, as well as learning about the threads and tools available. In the class you will create a pair of knotted bracelets - a bracelet is the same process as for a necklace, but by creating bracelets, rather than a longer necklace, you will get more practice of the key starting and finishing techniques. Maximum class size of 2 people at my dedicated workshop space to allow enough space to work with the long threads needed for this technique! Course runs from 10am to 2.30pm at my workshop here in Camden Town, London NW1 with a half hour lunch break.
What's included in the price?
During the day you will create at least one knotted gemstone bracelet, but probably two! The fee includes; - your day of tuition - 10am to 2.30pm, use of all relevant tools, all beads needed from my selection of lovely gemstones and pearls, and any other consumables needed for your creations, tea, coffee and refreshments. Lunch is not included, but there are many local cafes.

FAQs
My classes have a maximum of 3 students - or less.
This is partly to ensure everyone has adequate space and tools to work comfortably, but also to ensure each student can have the best experience and have enough support and attention to ensure that everyone can get as much as possible out of their day.
There is no allocated parking. Travel by public transport is recommended.
Parking is possible on the neighbouring streets - this is just standard on street parking with the usual time limits etc and a space is not guaranteed. There are a couple of paid car parks locally if you really need to drive.
I do not recommend driving unless you have no other option - the location is very well served by public transport.
Only if your children are adults, I'm afraid! I currently only teach over 18s.
I'm very sorry but my space is not accessible - there are steps at the front door to enter the property, and the main workshop and toilet are both on the lower ground floor, downstairs from the entrance. I am very sorry about this - if you struggle with stairs or moving about freely then this may not be the right space for you unfortunately.
I am located in Camden Town - in central London - NW1 - just a 5 minute walk from either Camden Town tube station on the Northern Line tube, or also just 5 minutes walk from Camden Road overground station on the Mildmay line. Full address details will be provided with your booking confirmation.
