Rosie reviewed: Introduction to Greenwood Spoon Carving- Beginners Cooking Spoon

""10/10 wood carve again" 🤩 Such a brilliant day spent carving this spoon with the wonderful, talented and generous Anita. As a beginner I learnt so many skills at the workshop, working with an axe and carving tools. The outdoor setting at Eccesal Woods was gorgeous too. Highly recommend to beginners, you are in safe hands 💚🌷"

Charlotte reviewed: Willow handbag / shoulder bag

"I originally booked myself and my husband onto this course as part of his Christmas present. We are both professional creatives, but willow weaving is something niether of us had done before. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Rachel was incredibly welcoming, patient and knowledgeable. Keeping a close eye on everyone in the class and offering assistance when things inevitably got muddled. The day was nicely paced, and it was great to have some choice over the type of weave you could do so that everyone's baskets were truly unique. We will definitely be looking to go back and have a go at something more ambitious in the future. "

Janice Wilson reviewed: Wreath Making

"This was my first time if wreath making at this venue. It was a just get on with it course, and if I wasn't a relatively artistic person I would have struggled. People were around to ask,but I thought it was a demonstrated course. I did make a lovely wreath, which I am pleased with but it was expensive."

Laura reviewed: Wreath Making

"I booked this session as I had attended and enjoyed it last year. Unfortunately, this year’s experience was much different. It was not run by Rachel, as advertised, and there was a lot less guidance and instruction - more just a case of get on with it. Firstly, the willow rings were pre-made, which was a fun skill to try out last year. I managed to make a fairly decent wreath but only by remembering the instructions I was given last year. The quality of decorations was also significantly lower. The branches were very prickly, rather than the usual Norman fir branches, and there were no cinnamon sticks, lotus flowers or dried fruit to add colour, and no nice fabric ribbons to decorate with. Finally, the lovely hot drinks were missing and it was lacking in festive atmosphere. Next year I will be looking for a course actually run by Rachel Hutton."

Tanya reviewed: Introduction to Greenwood Spoon Carving- Beginners Eating Spoon

"I had a really great experience on this course and came away with a new wealth of knowledge in green wood spoon carving. The lesson had a really good pace and I felt I was able to progress myself along without having to wait or feel like I was holding anyone up! Everyone was so nice and the whole day had a really calm and relaxed atmosphere to it. By the end I had a lovely spoon and the confidence to go out and have a go by myself. Cannot recommend enough. Tracey Guymer reviewed: Tool sharpening

"On Sunday I was lucky enough to do a tool-sharpening workshop in Ecclesall Woods with tutor Dave. & being an outdoor class it was an extra bonus that it was actually a rare warm and sunny day! I enjoyed every minute of the workshop as Dave taught me how to sharpen my big choppy tools. It was like being on an episode of 'the repair shop' only better!! As Dave, the expert, was actually teaching and showing me how to restore my dad's beautiful old axe and mum's beautiful old billhook ... myself!! Dave was a really great tutor and immensely knowledgeable so I learned lots of interesting related facts along the way. He was also very kind and we didn't just sharpen my tools, we fixed them properly, restored them to their former glory and gave them a brand new lease of life! And now I can't wait to spend time fixing up, restoring and sharpening all my other old tools!!"
