"I shared this day with my brother in law Andy as it was his 50th birthday present from the family. It was a brilliant experience, Bob was a wealth of knowledge and there was plenty of cups of tea while we learnt! He had the patience of a saint while we worked and was very encouraging as we made our pieces. All in all it was a fantastic day with many thanks to Bob."

Karin Hessenberg reviewed: SCULPTURE UNLOCKED: The Portrait in Clay from Photographs

"I participated in Brooks’s online Sculpture Portrait from Photographs in April. I found it excellent. Brook had made very thorough preparation and provided us with useful preliminary exercises. By using the Padlet app, students were able to interact with one another as well as with Brook as our tutor. This was the best online substitute for a live studio experience. Brooks’s comments as we proceeded through the course were thoughtful, helpful and constructive. Her demonstrations of her making methods were illuminating. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and felt that I learned a lot from it. I can highly recommend Brooks’s online courses."

Studio 27A responded:

"Thank you for the time and care you took to provide such detailed and positive feedback, Karin. I'm very grateful - it helps enormously with planning future courses. It was a real pleasure to work with you and I wish you every success with your sensitive and accomplished work. Best wishes, Brook"

Ann, Jackie, Margaret & Norma reviewed: Fused glass Xmas decorations: morning workshop YOU MAKE YOUR OWN GROP UP

"My sisters arranged the workshop for my birthday in April 2020 and for various reasons have only been able to do the workshop last week. Julie was fantastic and a great teacher. Guiding us on our chosen designs without imposing her own ideas. We all did something different and are over the moon with the results. Would have liked to have done the Xmas decorations workshops but no suitable dates available as nearly all taken. Thankyou Julie, it was a long wait but worth it, we had a lovely morning."

"We really enjoyed our 2 day course with Gregor. He was an excellent teacher, very calm, patient and welcoming. As we were total novices we learnt so much in such a short time. We created a lovely table lamp and a bowl, both of which we are delighted with. We would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning how to use a lathe."

Jayne Webster reviewed: You Choose Sewing days: One to One

"I had an absolutely super day with Becca on Wednesday. My dates had been changed umpteen times due to covid but I finally got there on Wednesday and it was definitely worth the wait. I was interested in learning about buttonholes and zips. Becca showed me how to use my buttonhole foot correctly and finally the mystery of my mistakes was solved. Next it was a step by step guide for me on zip insertion and looking at the different ways of inserting zips. This too was a game changer for me and I was so pleased and happy with my results. I had a super day and left very happy with the knowledge that I had achieved. I will be going back again for a lesson in making something for myself. Thankyou Becca and to all of you reading this review you too can have a super day with Becca just sign up for a lesson with her you wont be dissapointed."

BeccaLou Creates responded:

"Jayne, it was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with you, and to see all of the amazing things you were already making. I'm so pleased that I was able to help you discover new, less complicated ways of achieving what you wanted. Am excited to see you lean in to your talents. Bx"

Andy Packer reviewed: Learn to turn in Snowdonia, North Wales - Full day

"I had a session bought for me as a birthday present and hadn’t touched a lathe since I left school 30+ years ago. Les is a great teacher who is very knowledgeable about his craft. He has an easy manner and explains everything in terms you can understand without getting overly technical. I had a great time and came away with a fantastic bowl & tree as well as some new skills. I’ll be booking another session with Les once I’ve got a lathe and some practice under my belt. Thanks for a great day Les."

Pren responded:

"Thanks for the review, Andy, I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your day.... there's a woodturning club which used to meet at bangor, but now meets at Star, near Gaerwen, on Anglesey. If you're interested, let me know and I'll find some further details for you."

Christopher Patten reviewed: Sword Making Workshop in Grassington for 2 People

"Just returned from a two-day sword-making workshop with my 17-year old. We both had a great time and were well looked after by the unflappable Richard who combined a relaxed and steady manner with some excellent tuition and master crafts skills. What I liked best was the balance of being taught, trusted and monitored so we felt pushed but never out of our depth (well perhaps once when our point needed rescuing). My 17-year old has a great talking-piece to make pineapples and water melons tremble and I have gotten over my fear of angle grinders. Got some amazing photos of the process. Cannot recommend highly enough."

Jim Milner reviewed: Basket making for beginners using traditional willow basketry techniques

"What a fantastic day with the perfect hosts. Fantastic instruction from years of basketry experience. From start to finish the art of basket making is made clear and all the methods we used were expertly demonstated, often with one to one tuition ensuring that all who attend meet their objectives and leave at the end of the day with a quality basket. 100% highly recommended. Got on a course....you'll love it."

Richard Gadsdon reviewed: Blacksmithing one-to-one North West UK

"This was the second day of my birthday present, and I couldn't have enjoyed the day more. Colin is a great teacher, who explains things patiently and well. Again, I was allowed to work independently and make my own mistakes, and then correct them with Colin's guidance. I made a couple of things, including a decorative flesh fork, which will get a lot of use. Can't wait to be able to have another go at this, and can't recommend the day enough."

Richard Gadsdon reviewed: Blacksmithing - one to one - Hammer Skills

"This was the first day of my birthday present and something I have wanted to try out for ages. Bob was a fantastic teacher, always encouraging and helpful, but also let me do things for myself. Bob answered all my many questions in a straightforward way. I made several items, including a pair of smith's tongs, all of which I will treasure. I am already planning when I can go back and extend my knowledge. Can't recommend this enough."
