Tamsin Robinson reviewed: Introduction to English Willow Basket Making- Weekend Course

"Warm welcome from both Jonathan and Willow. Supportive tutoring by Jonathan who demonstrated each step clearly and good pacing. He was approachable and willing to help whenever we got stuck though! I went with a friend both of us having never done willow weaving before. We had great fun in a small group where everybody was supportive. We now have a lovely unique small basket and bread basket that we can proudly show off these Anglo Saxon skills."

Norfolk Hedge Baskets responded:

"Thank you so much for your enthusiastic participation in making this a memorable weekend. Well done on your completed baskets and thank you for this review, regards Jonathon"

Ian Franks reviewed: Windsor chair-making at Greenwood Days, 7-days

"Just completed the 7 day Windsor Chair making course (June 2022). I have done a number of different courses at Greenwood days and Peter and his tutors always strive to ensure that individuals of whatever skill level, have an enjoyable experience. This course is no exception, from log to chair Peter was on hand to guide us through the delicate use of Axe, Adze, Shave horse and Pole lathe, and Steam bending,as well as the different knives and chisels that were required. In addition he once again wowed us with his home made bread and soup lunches. At the end of 7 days of hard but very enjoyable work we had all acquired new skills and created our own unique Windsor Chair. Thank you Peter."

James reviewed: Build your own fire pit / barbecue from recycled materials. A one day course in metal work skills for beginners.

"A very enjoyable day making the firepit with Scott. Learnt some very useful tips while working with the tools and ended up with a pretty cool bit of kit that's had some great comments from friends when they've seen it. Would recommend this for anyone looking to get hands on with metal work, you get plenty of support as you make it and you're also able to crack on when you've got your skills nailed."

Black Paw upcycle project responded:

"Hi James thanks for the great review. I so glad you enjoyed the course. all you need to do now is fire it up and add the sausages "

Christopher Hallpike reviewed: ** SPECIAL OFFER ** 10% off - Bladesmithing Experience Day - Wiltshire

"One of the most enjoyable and interesting days I can recall. Graham, David and Decklan create a very friendly and informal atmosphere, but at the same time very professional, especially about safety, and also very happy to answer obscure questions about metallurgy. They guided us most proficiently through all the stages of making our knives, which I have always wanted to do, and I finished the day very proud of the knife, with razor edge, which I took home with me. Great experience!"

Clarke Knives responded:

"We're all glad you enjoyed your time with us and hope to see you again sometime"

Sonia reviewed: Learn to Felt - An Introduction to Felt Making in Birmingham

"I was really impressed with the outcome of my two pieces of work, I was not expecting to achieve so much, Emma was very welcoming, organised in how she had planned the Course, clear in her explanations and was there encouraging us at each stage. It was a small group so I felt comfortable and free to ask questions, the venue itself is bright and airy and full of different coloured wools and other textiles, the choice of colours are amazing and I felt as if I had walked into a Textiles Store I wanted them all. I really enjoyed this Course, Emma had on display previous projects and they in themselves are an encouragement for future Workshops so I am looking forward to attending more sessions."

Emma Jackson (Silversoles - Felted Textiles) responded:

"Delighted you enjoyed your first experience feltmaking Sonia. Was a real pleasure meeting you."

vijay c reviewed: Make a shave horse at Sallerton Wood

"Really enjoyed making a shave horse. The techniques I've learnt , though a fraction of whats needed, will serve as a starting point. Andy is the perfect teacher, never too fast or too slow, and always there to help. This is an essential course for anyone who would like to start dabbling in green woodworking. The setting is perfect and the food is great. I wimped out of wild camping though! If you are thinking of it , just do it!"

Joan reviewed: Sunset Embroidery Workshop - Surrey, UK

"I am a complete beginner at embroidery and was therefore a little trepidatious about joining the course. I need not have worried. The course was held in the teacher’s own home with just three students, making it very relaxed and friendly. Everything needed was supplied and more, with an amazing array of embroidery threads, fabrics and odds and ends to use. Vicky was an excellent and inspiring teacher. We were taught the basic stitches and then used them to add to a sunset picture on some pre-painted fabric. We all came away with a basic knowledge of stitches and a feeling of pride in having created a simple but beautiful embroidery by the end of the two hours. I am now hooked and want to do more!"
