Petra Stapp reviewed: Basket making for beginners using traditional willow basketry techniques

"Just an amazing day! Becky and Johnny were everywhere solving our confusion with amazing patience, and they are both real people persons. Great food, so book the lunch if you can. Lovely work space in the barn. Johnny's music taste is perfect :) It's hard work though so be prepared to be shattered and a bit sore from thumbing willow all day. We went home with our lovely baskets and the cat has moved into one already. I didn't think I could produce something so beautiful. Thanks "

Vicky K reviewed: Full day introductory knifemaking course

"I bought this for my partner’s birthday as he’d mentioned his interest in forging previously, and decided to try my hand at it too. What a brilliant experience! Matt was really thorough explaining processes and techniques. He gave us the space to learn how to understand each process for ourselves, but was always on hand if we asked for assistance. I went into this thinking that I might not do too well as I’m not the strongest, but with Matt’s support and encouragement, I’ve come away with something I can be proud of. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Matt :) "

Fair Mile Forge responded:

"Thanks so much for the great review and glad you had a great day! You are more than welcome you both did very well and hope to see you guys again soon! Thank you "

Mina Crisp reviewed: Embossed pewter box workshop

"Thank you to Melanie for making this new craft a little easier to learn. The Pewter embossing was taught calmly but with enthusiasm. Melanie shared her knowledge and offered support as needed my only quibble was feeling cold, ( a cold day and building) so my fingers had a mind of their own. However, I still managed to produce a reasonable box! "

Metallix responded:

"Thank you so much for your review, Mina. The box you produced was awesome! You should be very proud of it. I’m so sorry that we have a cold building… this is something that will be rectified in the future… but is a slow process. Maybe I didn’t switch both heaters on again after lunch. Again, apologies. Hopefully it won’t put you off having another go at a future workshop… maybe in the summer."

Anne Ward reviewed: Glass Fusing Full Day Introduction For One

"I have just attended a Glass Fusing full day introduction 1-2-1 course with Andy from Kalypso Glass in Burton. The booking process was very easy, and I received good communications from Andy, giving me directions and advice pre-course. I had to change the date of my course at short notice, which Andy arranged for me. I arrived at 10am, and I left at 5pm. I learnt how to score and cut glass sheets, and created a bowl, 2 standing wavy pieces - an under water theme and flowers in a meadow, a Santa Claus, a snowman and an angel. Lastly I made a colourful tea light. Andy explained the process throughout the day, telling me about different types of glass, how the pieces are fired, different temperatures used etc. Very detailed! Andy was very happy to share his knowledge and was very easy to talk to. He was very patient. I did this course as a one-off as I just was curious how glass fusing worked. The amount of detail would be very useful if someone was interested in learning more about the process for a hobby or for work. I really enjoyed the course and would recommend it, and Andy, to anyone who wants to learn about glass fusing."

Kalypso Glass responded:

"Thank you Anne, glad to hear you enjoyed your day with us, it was great to meet you."
