Ewan Bell reviewed: Japanese woodblock printmaking - two day course

"I thoroughly enjoyed this 2 day course, it was an excellent grounding in the basic technique of Japanese Woodblock printing. The course was well structured, in my opinion, with a good balance of mostly practical learning with information and explanation imparted at appropriate times. I would definitely consider doing a further course with Rowan."

Rowan Mconegal responded:

"Thanks Ewan, so glad you enjoyed it - and looking forward to seeing you again! "

Julia reviewed: Glass painting taster day

"This is the fourth course that I have attended with Derek at the beautiful Limelight Studios. I always have a fabulous time and this was no exception. This time it was a leaded glass workshop. Derek explained how to use all the tools in the studio and how to cut glass efficiently and safely. He explained everything so clearly, giving me confidence to make something I’m really proud of. I learnt so much and had a great day, made even better by a seemingly endless supply of delicious coffee and biscuits! Perfect! "

Derek Hunt Artist responded:

"Thank you Julia for such a lovely review!"

Karen reviewed: Crafty Basketry's Willow Basket Making for Beginners/Improvers - Day Course at King John's Nursery, Etchingham, East Sussex

"I had a lovely day creating a basket at this workshop which was gifted to me by my daughter. It was my first go at basket making and I learned so much from Marianne, who was knowledgeable and professional as well as patient and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The venue was lovely and rustic, though several warm layers were required! Everyone was very pleased with what they created. Some made wreaths, angels and stars which were all amazing. I would definitely recommend the course and will be booking another one with some friends in the future. "

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Hello Karen, Thanks very much for your recommendation, which means the world to me! Will be great to meet your friends and for you to be creative together and make memories. See you again soon. All the best, Marianne"

We left with 6 candles each, entirely tailored to our own preference, and enough knowledge to make all our own candles at home going forward. Highly recommended. Wrap up warm if you’re going in winter!"

Vicky reviewed: Introduction to Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"This course was a treat to myself and it didn't disappoint! Judith was very warm and knowledgeable, and it was lovely to spend the day creating art in her beautiful home with views of the garden. Although I work slowly, I was able to produce a lino cut I was happy with and print from it on the day, and leave with the confidence to choose the tools I needed and the skills to perfect it at home. I appreciated Judith's tips about choices of materials and eco-friendly options. Recommended!"

"Highly recommend. Myself and daughters attended this session and it was a fantastic experience. Excellent tuition, all materials etc., included in price . The time absolutely flew. It was amazing that we all had access to the same foliage but all 11 of us produced a completely different wreath. Wonderful atmosphere and made to feel extremely welcome, nothing was too much trouble, refreshments provided. Next year we have already planned to attend the Garland class. EXCELLENT VALUE "

Aly reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"Being female, and never having had the opportunity to do wood working before, I was very excited when I signed up to do this course as it was always something that I had wanted to do. I was not disappointed. Under Mark and Jay's expert supervision, not only was I cutting out mortices and tenons within two hours of starting the course, but I was also using lots of power tools including routers and band saws to produce a very professional looking table. I learnt such a lot in a very short space of time thanks to their brilliant teaching and enjoyed every minute. I am now going to make my table into a long stool which requires a bit of upholstering and so I have signed up to do this with Jay - can't wait. Thanks to Mark and Jay for such a fun week."

Kay Bowden reviewed: From fleece to fibre 2-day spinning workshop

"What a fantastic weekend with Elaine and three fellow novice spinners in the heart of the Lake District. I found it absolutely inspiring and enjoyed every minute. Elaine is very knowledgeable and has a gentle teaching technique which has given me the skills to begin my spinning journey and hopefully enjoy this ancient craft for many years to come. I will treasure my first ball of two ply yarn and have already placed my order for a wheel so I can begin to perfect my technique. Thank you Elaine!"

Cartmel Handspun Spinning School responded:

"Thanks Kay for your so positive feed-back. It's really good to hear how much you enjoyed your weekend and your plans to carry on spinning. Best wishes Elaine"

Carol Coggan reviewed: Weekend Beginners In-depth Workshops- Bobbin Lacemaking Workshops (Effingham, Surrey).

"I attended the weekend beginners lacemaking course. Tina and Stephen had organised it beautifully, I had a map, there were clear signs to get from the car park to the workshop, so any initial fears were immediately allayed. The good organisation of the event continued. Tina had planned a comprehensive weekend, aware of clients potential levels, I was most impressed. As a complete beginner Tina took us through all aspects to get us started. Her teaching was at my pace, and I feel she had the patience of a saint, at the many questions I asked and… for help when I went wrong. There was a handbook to accompany the course, so I could take this home and consolidate my learning overnight. Stephen showed us how to spangle, whilst Tina took the others round her lace, to give us an idea of the many types of lace and what we can achieve. I loved the whole course even the cups of coffee and cake! Thank you very much for organising it, as I learnt a lot and will be putting it into practice until the next session. I would recommend this course to anyone who is a complete beginner and those accomplished. Tina shares her passion for lacemaking and enthuses you as she does it. "

Tina's Bobbin Lacemaking responded:

"Good Afternoon Carol Thank you so much for leaving such a comprehensive review. I know you had problems in managing to leave it, but most importantly thanks for not giving up. I am pleased you enjoyed the weekend so much. I am looking forward to seeing you in the New Year not only to take you on to the next steps, but also to see what you have done in between time. Let's hope we can get you onto finishing the piece your daughter started years ago, as it is a nice pattern. Merry Christmas from Stephen and Tina"

Lizzie Hopkins reviewed: Modern upholstered footstool workshop - no experience required - the perfect gift!

"I absolutely loved this day, learning upholstery and better still, making a footsool that actually looked professional! I was convinced I'd end up with something bodged that I'd have to hide in the shed due to my own lack of skills (and lack of patience) but wow, Lucy guided, cajoled, encouraged, didn't let us off the hook until we all had made beautiful stools. Lovely lunch, lovely people, great venue - do it!"

Roundedby responded:

"Ha ha! Absolutely not - Rounded by workshops are a bodge free zone, there's a reason I tutor something without corners!! I loved your Porcelain fabric choice, and the result was magnificent - thanks for helping make the day SUCH fun - now go put your feet up! Lucy "
