Ferne Rook reviewed: Tool Sharpening and Maintenance- 1 Day Course in South Devon

"As a beginner to sharpening tools, this was a great day, but I think it is also suitable for more experienced people as there was a wide range of skill levels on the course and all were catered to. Definitely worth bringing lots of your own tools as you leave with lots of new skills but also all your tools sharp. I really appreciated being shown the manual and machine way of sharpening so you know all the options and can choose how you want to do it yourself. It's a beautiful setting where the course is run and coffee and cake was a lovely addition. "

Peter Lanyon Furniture responded:

"Thanks Ferne, lovely to see you again. Glad you got a lot out of the course."

Leanne O'Neill reviewed: Upholstery full day class - strip, pad and cover a dining chair

"As a lover of all things arts and crafts, I was very excited to find a woodwork company that offered day classes, rather than courses, relatively locally. The course I attended was run by David, who seems to be a master in pretty much everything and an all-round fascinating man. Nearly eight hours in the workshop flew by and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. What a workshop!!! There are many courses covering a wide variety of topics from plumbing to making a deck chair; I attended the full day upholstery class. In addition to coming home with a wonderfully revamped kitchen chair, I learnt so much from David, just chatting to him about woodwork and tools. The Great British Woodshop really is great. Fantastic in fact. I highly recommend them and in actual fact have booked on my next project!"

"What a brilliant day doing the upholstery course with Jo. Learned so much and ended the day with a beautiful footstool. Jo is such a good teacher, she explains things so clearly, demonstrates each step and helps you if you need it. We were a group of 9 and had such a laugh all day. To top it off Jo's mum provides delicious homemade cakes for everyone. So glad I did the course and would recommend it to anyone 💓"

"Brilliant course! Gill is a fantastic teacher - very helpful and knowledgeable, and a lovely person. I came away with two gorgeous pieces of stained glass which I'm very happy with, and also the confidence to carry on doing the craft at home. The venue is also excellent - a first class cafe on site and an exceptional craft shop. I thoroughly enjoyed my two day course with Gill and will recommend the course to some of my friends. Thank you, Gill!"

Lou reviewed: Woven bag workshop workshop with Rachel Davies

"Rachel I absolutely loved your handbag workshop. You have such a relaxed informal manner which immediately put me at ease. You explained the “how to’s” in a way that a non-creative like me could easily understand. The session flew by as I was so engrossed in making my bag and you were always on hand for encouragement and advice. The wonderful cakes were an unexpected bonus. I was thrilled to go home with my completed bag and will be recommending this course to my friends and family. Thank you"

"Hi, What a fabulous workshop. Bean was great. Very “hands on” I had no idea what to expect or how stained glass develops. It was a great and interesting experience. The class of 6 were all very different yet had one goal which we all jelled. Great Time and a Fabulous “Heart” was made. Fantastic The food from the cafeteria was superb. 😀"

Richard Greenwood reviewed: Small human sculpture kit (30cm)

"Having bought and received a sculpture kit from you recently, I thought I would drop you a line, as I have totally enjoyed the challenge. As my first attempt at sculpting your kit gave me the confidence to give it try. I chose a tricky pose I had seen a picture of recently, despite being reinforced with wire up the legs from the improvised base she was quite wobbly until the clay hardened. I’ve learned so much I’m sure I can improve on this however I’m very pleased with the results."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Wow Richard - thank you so much for this lovely review and sending me the photos of your dancer. I am amazed you created a standing sculpture without extra base support - fabulous work! Thank you for letting me pop the photos onto the website. Enjoy your new skill. Jo xx"

"Absolutely loved this course & very proud of the 30cm shade that I made. Mike reviewed: Half Day Potters Wheel & Clay Hand Building, Heskin Chorley

"What a great experience. Sharon was so helpful and supportive. My first pot was reasonable but the second, without supervision, was a disaster!! I am proud of my fish as long as the tail and fins don’t drop off in the firing. I will definitely go back for the glazing, if my ‘creations’ survive. Thanks for a brilliant experience. Took me back to my school days pottery 🤣. "

The Crafty potter responded:

"Hi Mike, you did awesome- its not easy the wheel, but you did it. Your fish is fabulous and is drying nicely. Thank you for your lovely review. See you in a few weeks."

Jarrod reviewed: Introduction to Leather Craft

"From zero to a load of practice in 2 days. I started with no knowledge of leather work. We dived straight into different types of leather but quickly got practical with some cutting, staining, stitching and punching to end the first day with a great leather belt. Refreshed on day 2 and went to the next level which was design, how to produce a pattern/template and then make it real. So more practise of cutting and stitching. And ended the day with a new laptop sleeve. Bill has a wealth of experience and translates it to practical knowledge that has set me up to get started with a new craft. "

Bespoke Leather responded:

"Hi Jarrod, thank you for a most enjoyable weekend. Glad you liked the course and have gained the skills and techniques you need to enjoy your new craft. Cheers Bill"
