Paul Walsh reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"A fantastic day learning a new skill. Having never done any woodturning previously, Colin has a huge amount of experience and he fully explained every part of the process and the reasons why it was done that way. He was very patient with me, even when he had to repeat instructions often in a short space of time. After a great day I was able to take home a lovely turned bowl and an egg cup. I completely loved the whole experience and I now want to continue my learning and practice what I have been taught, but my problem is now finding space to fit the equipment in. I recommend Colin to anyone who wants to try their hand at this amazing skill."

Devon Wood Crafts responded:

"Thanks for this feedback, Paul, it is appreciated. "

Dan reviewed: Woodturning for beginners

"Stuart was an awesome teacher! He took a really holistic approach to the whole process, starting with the types of wood to use and good storage methods. Stuart struck a really good balance of demonstrating and allowing me to make my own mistakes and learn as I went! He adapted to the course to my interests and I can't wait to sort out my second day!"

The Scottish Woodturner responded:

"Thanks Dan. Look forward to seeing you for round 2."

Helen Felcey reviewed: Plaster mould making for slip cast ceramics with Ed Bentley

"I had a fantastic day working with Ed and would highly recommend Ed's craft courses. Working to produce a model with Ed was a brilliant learning experience and of course, resulted in a beautiful model (a bowl in my case), crafted to a standard which is only achieved after years and years of experience! It was also a thoroughly enjoyable day – you feel at home in no time working in Ed's studio. I'm looking forward to returning and truly value the fact that I'm still able to work in a very hands–on fashion with someone in this way. Ed is a real master craftsman – a rare individual! "

Mike reviewed: Knife making weekend Gloucestershire

"This was a great course, we arrived on the Friday and designed our knife, Arian helped to fine tune the designs. I chose a bushcraft knife but there were all sorts of designs and uses. When it came to crafting Arian taught us three crafts, steel work (blade), wood work (handle) and leather work (sheath). Arian created a relaxed atmosphere where you could make your own teas and coffees at anytime and had biscuits on constant supply. I'd really recommend this course to anyone, even if you're not particularly crafty as it was so relaxing and you come away with something you've crafted by yourself. Can't fault anything over the whole weekend and I'll taking this knife with me on many camping trips in the future. All in all 11/10! "

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Thank you Mike for this feedback. I'm delighted that the way I run the workshop worked for you. Enjoy using your knife as that is the whole idea! Best regards, and if you have any questions over time be free to get in touch. Thanks for your hard work! Arian"

Seán G reviewed: Knife making weekend Gloucestershire

"A busy but very rewarding weekend. Straight into learning about materials and making from the Friday evening onwards. Start with a metal billet and come away with a quality knife in a leather sheath. Brilliant. Arian is a warm, clever and talented teacher. After all the years he’s been doing this there was not s whiff of complacency or staleness. He obviously still loves what he does and sharing it with people. Funny, attentive and talented. Highly recommended. "

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Kind thanks Sean for this feedback.I'm sure your knife will serve you well for years to come, and become a good friend! Very lovely design, so thank you for your creativity and hard work. Be in touch! Arian"

Gary Buxton reviewed: Fused glass bowl and dichroic glass jewellery in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire

"What a totally joyful thing to do. I've done a couple of Melanie's events and have made an abundance of glass objects, most recently a bowl. I love the fact that we get to learn more about how the pigmentation will behave in the kiln so that we can more confidently play around on each visit. Melanie makes the experience so much fun and her infectious enthusiasm for the adventure encourages us to experiment! Can't wait for attending the next course!"

Jeanne reviewed: Fused Glass One To One Workshop

"I thoroughly enjoyed this glass fusing day course with Claire who had been in touch with me beforehand to check she had the glass colours I would be using in stock and also to provide detailed instructions on how to reach her workshop. I was a bit apprehensive at first as I’d never worked with glass before but Claire, who is very experienced, soon put me at ease. She explained the processes very clearly and then gave me some practice time cutting the glass and answering my questions before I got started. She was happy to give suggestions on the best way to construct my panel and I was able to add copper wire and frit to the glass before leaving my piece with Claire for firing. I can’t wait to see the finished design! I would thoroughly recommend Claire’s Fused Glass Workshop."

Heather reviewed: Silver Jewellery Making Workshop

"I thoroughly enjoyed my silver ring jewellery making session with Julie yesterday. Her workshop is comprehensively equipped. Her artistic flair and eye for design proved inspiring for me. I had an idea of the silver band rings I wanted to create. By the end of my 3 hours class, I was wearing 3 utterly unique and crafted silver rings; all very different and looked most eye catching. I have plans to return to create simple silver bangles to replace some that had been lost from a family keepsake of wedding bangles. I highly recommend Julie’s jewellery workshop. You will have a fabulous creative experience. In conclusion, the chocolate brownie on offer during a short break added to the delights of my workshop. "

Jewellery By Julie responded:

"Thank you for the lovely review Heather. It was a very successful and enjoyable session for me. Thank you Julie"

Ruth Webster reviewed: Weave an alpaca scarf in a day

"I went to Clivewood Alpacas with my 94 year old Mum. We had such a lovely day, Caroline was so kind and patient. We really enjoyed meeting the beautiful Alpacas. It was a wonderful day for me on so many levels, it gave me so much pleasure seeing Mum so happy and engaged, whilst we were both weaving a beautiful scarf in a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, in the great company of like minded people, with the gorgeous Alpacas looking on. Caroline was so generous with her help and advice - and unbelievably creative- we were both in awe of her! Meeting the Alpacas was a wonderful treat in itself. The lunch was delicious. We had our beautiful hand woven scarves to take home- this course was worth every penny, you definitely won’t be disappointed ☺️"

Jewel reviewed: Felt Making Pictures (Halifax)

"It was great fun wet felting with Jo who did a superb job of introducing all core elements of this accessibly creative activity. With extensive tutoring experience, she is clearly highly skilled in conveying a wide range of skills inclusive of all abilities. We had light-hearted fun whilst totally absorbed in the endless possibilities of Jo's wide ranging materials, all explained and available to explore. It emerged that Jo had worked across all age-ranges from young children to oldies, accordingly tailoring her approach. I would recommend her for little local groups or whole classes. "
