"Jonathan was a brilliant teacher and very personable. Basic skills in the morning followed by making a piece of silver jewellery in the afternoon. He spread his attention between the three of us really well. Lovely tea and cake and a pretty garden to relax in for lunch. Just what I needed to switch off from a stressful week. Hope you enjoyed your birthday evening Jonathan! Would love to go back for a bespoke 3-4 hour session. Thanks :) "

Andreas Rose reviewed: Blacksmithing Introductory Workshop - One Day

"A really fun, informative and creative day! The development of skills was progressive and each was modelled clearly with the tutor explaining why as well as how each step needed to be done, including how to maintain and use the fire to best advantage. John was very proactive regarding safety and in anticipating potential pitfalls, but balanced this with allowing each of us to make and learn from our own mistakes. It was also great to be given quite a bit of historical information. Obviously, this was just a one day introduction, but it has left me with a hunger to do more, and possibly explore some of John’s other specialities of copper and tin work. Thoroughly recommended."

Stanwick Lakes Art and Craft Courses responded:

"Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the course and shall let the course tutor know. Best wishes, The Stanwick Lakes Team."

Dave Gilbert reviewed: Basket making for beginners using traditional willow basketry techniques

"My mum and I did this course. Becky and Jonny were very friendly and welcomed us into the studio with a cup of tea. They are the best instructors you could wish for, very skilled, encouraging, helpful and complementary. It's hard work but my mum managed it very well - she's 80 - the course was her birthday gift. The lunch was super and good value. A great setting. The studio was well-equipped and spacious. We both ended up with good baskets and learned a lot. Above all we enjoyed ourselves and could not fault any part of the day."

Adrianne Leijerstam reviewed: Oil Painting & Still Life - 5 week course in lovely Lawrenny

"Louise puts you at ease immediately and methodically guides you through the key stages in oil painting which was totally new to me. She is enthusiastic and professional carefully restoring you from your doubts and suggesting ways to improve. “Turn your painting upside down,” she said “and don’t look at the lines but more the variety and intensity of colour.”. Wow! I’m really learning something! Her small light studio is a real artist’s den bursting with colour, paints and canvases with everything you need at your fingertips. It really makes you feel like an artist. Thank you for your inspiration. Adrianne "

Louise Burdett Artist responded:

"Wow what a lovely review! Thank you so much Adrianne. It was a real pleasure to work with you and see your painting flourish. Hope to see you again soon. x"

Fatima Robinson reviewed: Craft Bookbinding (1 day) in the Peak District

"The 1 day bookbinding course is fantastic! Our instructor Holly used her vast experience in bookbinding and restoration to create an informative and very well paced course. Thanks to Holly's clear instructions and encouragement, I went home with a hardcover note book to be proud of. As if the course itself wasn't enough, to do it at Zantium Studios was a joy. The views are stunning and Allison is a wonderful, warm and friendly host. Allison made sure we had everything we needed, from a wide selection of refreshments (available throughout the day), delicious handmade lunches and afternoon cakes. I'd definitely recommend this course, and will be looking to attend another course at Zantium in the future. Thank you for an amazing day. "

Holly reviewed: Pottery taster course for two in the South Downs

"We had a fantastic afternoon with Rowena - she explained everything brilliantly, helped us through each stage of making our bowls and we’re now looking forward to seeing the final results after they’ve been dried etc. It was an afternoon of laughs - the quote of the day being “it’s so much harder when you’re moist …”. I wholeheartedly recommend booking this course."

Michelle reviewed: Wool Felt Applique at Mrs B-R's Craft Station.

"I attended a wool felt appliqué course and chose to make one from many selections of gorgeous penny mats. I was made to feel extremely welcome by Nicky the tutor and all other members in the group of 6. It was lovely to meet like minded people so interested in sewing. Help was given remembering how to sew some of the stitches, cutting out and using the iron on glue sheets. I felt like a kid in a sweet shop looking at all the gorgeous wool felt colours, buttons, hanging felt projects hanging off a decorative tree, etc. Lunch was provided from a local cafe which was delicious, plenty of parking is available on the premises and lots of coffees and drinks offered throughout the day. I would thoroughly recommend one of these courses!"

Mrs B-R’s Craft Station responded:

"Thank you so much for such a lovely review Michelle. I really enjoyed your company and wish you well as you continue with the project. Hope to see you again sometime soon 💐💐💐"

The venue was stunning, the food outstanding and the welcome unbeatable. Highly recommend."
