Julia Hill reviewed: Stained Glass Tiffany (Copper foil) Method - Taster

"Had an absolutely great time with Ruth, she is so patient, I have never cut glass before (and I broke a few bits) . She was kind and showed me how to do it more than once. She was attentive and kind. Makes a good brew as well, we had a laugh and the class went so quickly and I will definitely be going back again, hopefully to break less bits lol"

KelZig responded:

"Thank you Julia, Its really rewarding to see folks come in, cut their first piece and really get into the project. I love to see my students return and the regulars are getting to know each other and share their resources, which makes teaching the groups all the more satisfying - We had loads of fun - See you in the Summer!"

Patryk reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"I recently participated in Adrian Wood Artist Blacksmiths one-day blacksmithing experience, and I must say it was fantastic! The friendly atmosphere created by the instructors made me feel welcome right from the start. Their professionalism in blacksmithing was evident, and they guided us through each step with patience and skill. The workshop had a great vibe, with the sound of hammers and sparks flying. It was captivating to witness the transformation of raw materials into beautiful objects. The whole experience was enjoyable and educational, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment. To top it off, the organisers provided a delicious lunch prepared by Debbie that added to the overall experience. Gathering around a table, sharing stories, and enjoying good food with fellow participants created a sense of camaraderie. I highly recommend this one-day blacksmithing experience to anyone interested in the craft. The friendly atmosphere, professionalism, and tasty lunch made it an unforgettable and worthwhile adventure. Highly recommend Adrian Wood Artist Blacksmiths. And one more time thanks to everyone for such a good time."

"We have just spent the weekend on the stone carving course with Sebastian and can highly recommend it! Sebastian is a very knowledgeable person and the course was set at a relaxing pace with several breaks to chat, which was made all the better with the lovely family that did the course with us. Like minded people that we hope to meet up with again! I bought the course as an anniversary present for my husband and I’m so glad I did. We were both really happy with our carvings! If you are in two minds about this course do it! You’ll love it!! "

"A very informative, interesting and enjoyable morning where we learned how to safely cut glass bottles to make a variety of useful items. Claire was very helpful with information about the best places to buy the tools we need."

Sara reviewed: Tiffany stained glass wild flowers workshop

"I had been looking forward to this course for months and wasn't disappointed! A wonderful day that absolutely flew by - Kate was a fab teacher and I came away with much more confidence in going forward with glass cutting and soldering (even though I have a long way to go to get to Kate's standards!!) not to mention 7 stems of flowers! Took the opportunity to order lunch from the restaurant on site and can highly recommend this too. A word of warning - if you do this one day course, you'll be uttterly hooked and will spend the following days trying to figure out how to give up the day job so you can dedicate your time to longer courses!"

Martin McAssey Glass responded:

"Thank you for the lovely review."

Alan C reviewed: Axe Making Class

"Had a brilliant day hammering a lump of metal into an axe. Really friendly / relaxed environment and first timers like me were made to feel welcome. As other reviews have said it's fairly physically demanding and it helps if you can aim a sledge hammer but Will stepped in if anyone needed a bit of help. Highly recommend this course."

Laura, Chris & Emily reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"We booked this as a family experience to share with our teenage daughter and it did not disappoint. The sculpture garden and off grid workshop is an idyllic tucked away spot and the course itself a thoroughly engaging and yet relaxing activity. With Sebastian’s gentle encouragement and guidance we all exceeded our own expectations and by the end of the 2 days had each created a stone carving that we were proud to take home. We would definitely recommend this course - it’s impossible not to love it! "

Clare reviewed: Lampwork Beadmaking Full Day Introduction For One

"A really enjoyable day course! Ruth is a friendly, intelligent and entertaining person to spend a day with. I found the course very well thought out and prepared. Ruth has a fantastic way of explaining not only what you should do but why, what the effects will be if you do or don't and where you can deviate safely. Ruth was very on the ball and I felt very safe with the equipment. I really loved that I was able to pick my own colours and designs within what I had learnt by the end of the course. All round excellent course with great communication before the course too. I'm very excited about receiving my beads :) "

Kalypso Glass responded:

"Thank you Clare, it was great to meet you and glad to hear you had a good day."

Wendy Johnson reviewed: Chair making course at Sallerton Wood

"Really enjoyed this course. Andy was supportive, encouraging but helped me when I needed it. I have never done anything like this before but felt empowered and I am extremely proud of my finished chair. The surroundings are beautiful, the whole experience was very positive and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different and creative. It was hard work but I enjoyed every part of the process and it was an experience I will never forget. I met some lovely people and at 67 I achieved something I never thought I could. Thank you Andy you are brilliant at what you do long may it continue. "

Sallerton Wood responded:

You and your husband, George, both made wonderful chairs, and we hope that you enjoy using them for many years to come. Andy Newman reviewed: Raku, Saggar, Barrel, Copper Matte & Horsehair Firing Weekend Workshops 2025

"I've just returned home after an absolutely wonderful weekend of alternative firing with Abi and Alison. Being fairly new to pottery and somewhat socially anxious I kept putting off doing a course. Heaven knows why because this course was fantastic from start to finish. Any ability or level of expertise will get a tremendous amount out of this course. I think mainly due to the two tutors warm hospitality putting everyone at ease and small groups meant plenty of tutor time available to everyone in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. I came away inspired and ready to have a go on my own! To keep learning, experimenting, accepting my failures and rejoicing in my successes. Thank you Abi and Alison."

Alison and Abi Firing Workshops responded:

"Delighted you came Andrew, thanks for wonderful review. Alison and Abi "
