Rick reviewed: Mosaic/chat/create! with award winning mosaicist Emma Abel

""I much enjoyed my day with you learning something about the art of mosaic! It's a great deal more complex than a casual glance can appreciate, and to see your superb work is inspirational. I have a long way to go and will certainly want to spend a further day finishing my Goldfinch and embarking on a new design. Thank you so much for introducing me to the delights and intricacies of your mosaic art. I look forward to spending another day with you in the Spring!" "

abelmosaics responded:

"Thank you so much Rick, your colourful Goldfinch is taking shape and I look forward to seeing you again in the Spring."

abelmosaics responded:

"Many thanks Sandra, your Koi carp had lots of movement in the water so the andamento really worked well."

Charlotte Dawson reviewed: Plaster mould making for slip cast ceramics with Ed Bentley

"In total I spent 10 days working with Ed in his studio in Stoke on Trent, Over the course of 3 months. Together we produced, 1 large sculpture mould and 6 smaller scale moulds for hand sized sculptures. Between tuition dates I was able to contact Ed to ask for advice and always looked forward to returning to commence our next sessions. Ed is an excellent teacher and none of the stages felt rushed, he provided us with plenty of time to take each stage at the pace required to learn, encouraged me to take pictures at every stage and had no issue answering any questions I had about the process we were learning or other slip casting processes. I now feel I could successfully produce slip casting moulds independently, but could also always attend some top up session for more difficult shapes. The moulds we produced together are to an incredible standard and really beautifully finished. Ed is definitely worth every penny! "

Catrin Davies reviewed: Maille making the traditional way.

"I didn't attend this workshop but gave places to my son and niece as part of their Christmas presents... I can just tell you that enthusiasm oozed from them when we met later! I think Phil must be very skilled at imparting his deep knowledge of the subject while also teaching practical skills. They both loved handling the medieval examples in Phil's collection. Loved everything about this workshop! I am so grateful that my gift was SUCH a glorious success. Thank you Phil."

Phil Parkes Maille responded:

"Glad to hear they enjoyed the course, and I'm happy that they enjoyed the present. It was lovely to meet them both."

Peter Ward reviewed: Bookbinding for Beginners and Improvers

"The standard of teaching was exceptional. Very intense from the start but considerable learning from practical experience under supervision. The three sessions per day were exhausting especially for total beginners. Would have liked a handout with basic sequencing of book making. Inspiring tutor who clearly loves his craft and found time for some personal support and direction. "
