The workshop is located in Simon and Louise's beautiful naturalistic garden, where we also sat for lunch. The time flew by, which is the sign of a very enjoyable experience. "

"Thanks Liz for a really enjoyable and creative day. As a total novice it was great to receive such clear instruction and practical work together with basic instructions to take away. My takeaway prints were so much better than I expected and, although I need to buy the equipment first, I am going to do more!"

Kingsley reviewed: Craft Your Own Longbow: One To One Woodworking Class

"Matt was an amazing expert and source of information. We started the day with a roughly two inch square piece of wood and ended the day with a bow, that was relatively easy to use. All through the day Matt was explaining what we were doing and demonstrating so I could then complete the bow. At 78 inches with a draw of 40lbs at 24 inches we made a yew bow, much more common than the ash equivalent and best suited for my purposes. Matt made sure I knew about the challenges of finding the place and the day went off without a hitch. I have a little experience of using wood tools, but on the day almost every tool was new to me – not a problem with Matt’s support. At times we were both working the bow, which meant I had plenty of time at the end to fire about 27 arrows from it. It is accurate at 10 meters and I enjoyed using a bow I created. With Matt’s experience from years of making bows, and the preparations he made for our day (exposing a single growth ring for my bow on the stave we used) it was a very enjoyable day spent in an ancient woodland."

Manor Wood responded:

"Hi Kingsley, thank you for the review! Very glad you enjoyed the day, it was great having you at Manor Wood. Hope to see you again soon. Matt"

Laura allan reviewed: Lamp glass bead making

"Great fun! Would highly recommend. As only 2 in the class you get lots of attention from the tutor. The bead making process is mesmerising and some what addictive. Tried lots of different techniques. Made several glass beads and came away lots of necklaces, a bracelet and a pair of earrings. I will definitely be coming back for another go!"

"An excellent course with very good facilities in the workshop. Martin's method of teaching where he demonstrates the craft in small chunks before you try it for yourself, worked very well. Daniel (and my dad David) reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"I've been fascinated with metal work and blacksmithing for ages and was able to experience this first-hand with Mort. Between me and my dad, with Mort’s help, we made several things to bring home. In the morning, he showed us how to make Viking knives and later in the afternoon, we made a kitchen knife, and a display dagger inspired by Lord of the Rings (yes, it did break but was quickly and impressively fixed by Mort). I really enjoyed the day and having a go at real blacksmithing. During the day, Mort helped us improve our technique massively. His instructions were clear, and he showed us what to do so we could see what we were aiming for. He had lots of advice for me, because I am interested in pursuing a career in blacksmithing. I would thoroughly recommend this experience, as it is way better than just watching YouTube videos. "

Susan Jordan reviewed: Silver Jewellery Ring making workshop

"Had a wonderful time! Sarah's welcome was so warm and generous, we immediately felt at home and relaxed. We were supported in our choice of designs and Sarah explained what we needed to do and how we could make them a reality. Sarah advised step by step but made sure that we actually made our rings , sharing with us her expertise as a silver smith, and guiding us to create our lovely pieces of unique jewellery. I cannot recommend highly enough. An absolutely brilliant experience with such a talented teacher and a beautiful ring to wear. Thank you Sarah xx "

Amanda Grieves reviewed: Learn traditional upholstery

"Really enjoying the course. Peter, the tutor, demonstrates and explains really well what is needed and ensure that he keeps a sufficiently close eye to ensure that you keep on track. Small groups ensure that you can work at your own pace and that you are neither held up nor moving too fast. Thoroughly recommend this as a fascinating and creative experience."

James reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"Great course. Lovely setting. All round brilliant experience. It was a very full day so I barely stopped to chat. But all very informal and relaxed. Jo gave brilliant guidance and tips. Just the right amount. I was slowest in the group and being a bit of a perfectionist I hardly had time for lunch. Not a complaint though. Happy to be allowed to fiddle on. Pleased with my sculpture. Thanks so much Jo and Andy. "
