Jeff Thompson reviewed: Beginners 1-day 1-2-1 woodturning workshop for 1 person

"Very interesting and informative day spent with Simon learning some of the basics of wood turning. I'm completely new to this but after only one day I think I'm already hooked- thanks to Simon for being very patient! It's great to be able to focus entirely on one thing- the piece of wood spinning round in front of you so is excellent mindfulness training!! I even managed to produce a couple of pieces to take home! Highly recommended- I'll be back!!!!!"

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Hi Jeff, Thank you for a lovely review. So glad that you found the experience relaxing and enjoyable. Look forward to seeing you again :) -- Simon"

Sally Marr reviewed: Beginners Watercolours & Cream Tea Experience (minimum booking is for 2 people)

"My friend and I booked the session as a relaxing treat for one another's birthdays. Amina was lovely and her studio is a fantastic space to work in. The session ran like clockwork without feeling rushed, and my friend and I both enjoyed the painting, and cream tea afterwards surrounded by beautiful artwork. I'd definitely recommend this experience to anyone wanting some relaxed learning."

Marcelle reviewed: One day stained glass workshop London for beginners and enthusiasts

"Accompanied my daughter on a one day course for her birthday. We had a brilliant time learning a new skill and were both very happy with the stained glass piece we made. Tejal is an excellent teacher and explains each stage of the process very carefully. The facilities in the workshop are really good with everything you could possibly need to complete your project. Tejal is friendly and helpful and genuinely keen to see you make something you are happy with."

Cathy B reviewed: Two day wood carving course at Chillington Hall

"As a total beginner I found Geraint was very patient, and gave very clear guidance about how to approach what we were doing, one step at a time. We had a choice of projects, but it was clear that he had selected ideas that would be achievable over the two days so we all came away with a finished item. It was very enjoyable."

Amerton Arts Studio responded:

"Lovely to meet you Cathy and I am really pleased you enjoyed the course."

"Bob & Joe (& Ellie) were amazing! Excellent teaching of wheel, slab & coiling with as much or as little support as you needed. Good to have some ideas in the 1st few weeks of what you may want to make once you have given things a try. Relaxed, fun & supportive course - have booked again"

Paul and Sue Tacq reviewed: Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops

"What a fabulous three days! A week later and we’re still smiling about it. Lucy brought us from raw beginners to feeling proud of our new skills and confident enough to continue stone carving on our own at home. She’s an amazing teacher - even with her highly developed carving and artistic skills she is still able to give novices all her attention and encourage them with care and understanding. And on top of that she opens her house to you and is such good company. Highly recommended."

Janice Kite reviewed: Throwing for beginners

"I really enjoyed the day. Charlie gave clear and completed instruction and direction - There is a great deal to remember! My only suggestion would be to have more visual aids for each step of the process of throwing. There was just one showing the steps. It would be helpful to have additional visuals per step reminding the student the position of their hands/arms and another explaining the key technique."

Sue reviewed: Learn to Felt - An Introduction to Felt Making in Birmingham

"Really enjoyed the course on Saturday, thank you for an excellent introduction to a new hobby! I attached a photo of the final 'Northern Light' picture, I was amazed at how the various embellishments 'popped out' when the fleece was finally fully dry. I may well see you on a course in the future!"

"I have just spent two days with Jo in her studio, thank you so much for your patience and passing your wealth of knowledge and skills to a complete beginner! Kate reviewed: Textile landscape workshop in Dorset

"As a stone mason, this completely different world could have felt completely out of my comfort zone, but not with Imogen at hand! Imogen is the best sort of teacher: available, flexible, encouraging but knowing when to stand back and leave you enough to explore on your own. I absolutely loved it! It was a brilliant, inspiring day, surrounded by Imogen's stunning work, with tea and cake a plenty. I feel confident and excited now, to explore and develop my newly learned techniques, and make my next piece alone. This is a skill and art form which you can do without spending huge amounts on materials and tools, using mostly recycled fabric, easily purchased in charity shops. It was a really rewarding and satisfying experience and I completely recommend it and will be back to do her still life course soon!"

Imogen Bittner Studio responded:

"It was wonderful to work with such a positive and talented person, willing to experiment and try new techniques. I am sure you will go on to produce and develop your work and I really look forward to seeing how your own strong individual style translates into textiles in the future, both in landscape and hopefully, still life!"

Emily Salisbury reviewed: Pottery throwing day for two in the South Downs National Park

"My sister and I had a wonderful day with Rowena. She is a brilliant teacher, patient, precise and with a good sense of humour. We never felt lost in the process, which must be very easy. We felt supported at each stage. As we progressed she gave us space to remember what to do. We got to throw several bowls and could see our improvement. We then had access to lots of options to decorate a mould made bowl and again she was sensitive in giving more or less instruction as needed. I do not hesitate in recommending this course to anyone. You will have a fantastic satisfying time, learn lots and have beautiful items to collect once they are fired."

"Jo was so supportive & helpful. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn a new skill ( or attempt to !). I didn’t manage to finish my chair but feel confident enough to do this at home. Jo is happy to give any further tips, if I get stuck - what more could you want ?"

What Jo did next responded:

"You did really well with a huge fully sprung seat from scratch and the back too! Keep in touch :) x"
