Alan Martin reviewed: An Introduction to Pyrography Wood Art with Ruth Wheeler

"A great experience that improved my skills and introduced me to new techniques. A very relaxed and sociable atmosphere in a wonderful setting that all helped the learning process. Enjoyed the company, the exchange of information and the sharing of experiences with the others on the course. Ruth introduced us to the use of the equipment, gave us help and advice and inspired us with the collection of work on show. Ruth was there to answer questions and provide instruction whenever it was needed. I came away at the end of the course with new skills, a piece of work that I am very happy with and a determination to attend another of Ruth's courses."

Sculpt IT - Ruth Wheeler Art responded:

"A super day! Bill was really accommodating with dates which made booking so easy! We had a project that we wanted help with, so I messaged Bill and he was really encouraging - he invited us to bring our project along and offered help and advice as we worked on our pieces. Bill advised us on sharpening our chisels and then supported us as we worked. Bill’s workshop is lovely and we felt so welcome. I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about wood turning ? Thanks for an amazing day!"

Johanna Clark reviewed: Beginners Stained Glass Course, Copper foil work

"I was unable to attend Day One sadly due to family problems but I cut my own glass and attended on Day 2. There were three other students attending. The resources were plentiful and we were guided through each stage. There was plenty of time and we could work at our own rate. I had some previous experience of working with lead but copper foiling was new to me. Brenda was very patient with us all especially our soldering which was a new experience for many. Brenda’s hubby made our lunch, some very exotic pizzas, these were delicious. We also had three drinks during the day and some much welcomed lemon cake. The outside garden area is beautiful and we were lucky to have perfect weather. Brenda has three dogs that roam around making the course feel very homely. I really enjoyed the day and produced a lovely panel. I would certainly attend future courses with Brenda. Really interested in glass painted panels which are fired."

Alison is a lovely teacher, with lots of ideas to inspire us and made it feel like an easy technique to learn. I'm sure I it will take a lot more practise to perfect but we all came away with finished pictures that didn't look look they were made by novices and we'd be happy to hand on the wall.
