Steve reviewed: Make a shave horse at Sallerton Wood

"A thoroughly enjoyable and interesting course in which you learn a lot of greenwood skills while making your own traditional English shavehorse. Andy is very knowledgeable and skilled in his craft and delivers the course in an engaging and highly patient manner. The venue is a fabulous woodland setting complete with a well equipped and well laid out working area. The site also has a great rest area complete with rocket stoves and clay oven. Wild camping is available and is highly recommended. If anyone is thinking of attending a make your own shavehorse course, I wholeheartedly recommend Andy’s course. I’m looking forward to going on some of his other courses soon. "

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thank you very much indeed for your positive comments about the course tuition, the environment of the course, and the camping facilities at Sallerton Wood. Your comments are very helpful to us, and to others who might be considering doing a course with us. We're delighted that you enjoyed the course, and we look forward to meeting you again when you return for the Greenwood Carving course in September and any other courses that you choose to do with us. In the meantime, enjoy using your new shave horse! "

Tanya Bryan reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"What a great course! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish and so pleased that I bought a sculpture hare kit to bring home with me too. Jo’s tuition was very informative ensuring that the class could produce their own individual hares, in addition to her patience and tips throughout being invaluable. Andy was a great host too and felt that both Jo and Andy made a great team in providing such a wonderful day. I highly recommend this course. Thank you ☺️ "

Jo Garden Art responded:

Margaret Bennett reviewed: Hand embroidery classes with Dawn Ireland

"A delightful class of inspirational, mindful sewing. We have been going through the basic stitches but learning how to use them creatively. Dawn encourages us to be playful and once we have learnt the rules, how to break them. It is a great course for both beginners and people like me who learnt how to embroider at school many decades ago. Dawn is a great teacher and always makes us feel most welcome with tea and biscuits."

Fran reviewed: Woodturning for beginners

"Great course! We booked a day and expanded our course to nearly 2 days worth of teaching. Really enjoyed our time and learnt a lot. My partner, John, still deciding whether to get a lathe. I hope so, as I’m a potter and would be happy if he made lids and bowls and things to complement my pottery. But I loved the wood turning and even if we don’t go on to buy the equipment to turn wood at home it was a really worthwhile 2 days and I’m totally chuffed with my apple and wee bowl. Thanks so much! "

John reviewed: Beginners Epoxy Resin Workshop

"What a fantastic course! I have been wanting to get started doing this for a long time, but never got round to it. My Partner bought me this course for my birthday and I went last week. Richard is an incredibly knowledgeable and very talented craftsman, who instructs the students clearly, with humour, and to whatever level they are comfortable with. I have the confidence to now try this as a hobby, safe in the knowledge that he is available to help deal with any problems I might encounter. Will be looking to do more courses there in future. Highly recommended."

Mark Havers reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"An amazing experience. Sebastian was a great teacher, he gave you the knowledge and tools and then left you to try carving for yourself but was always on hand for help and guidance. The group was small and we all got on very well which added to the experience. The workshop was in an idyllic location in the heart of the countryside with plenty of shade from the sun which on this occasion was excellent as it was very hot. I intend to return in the future and would recommend this to anyone who wanted to try their hand at stone carving."

"I absolutely loved my Macrame plant hanger class with you yesterday. My plant is hanging in the window right now. However, I will have to make a new home for the plant as it is too hot there, but I couldn't wait to use my beautiful hanger. I am well impressed with myself for achieving this master piece under your very friendly, relaxed class. I will be telling my sisters all about it tomorrow night on our monthly girlie night. Thank you so much. "
