Adam reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"My partner bought me a stone carving experience for my birthday. I've done a few of these experience/craft days now and this is easily the best. Sebastian, the instructor, is jovial and full of interesting insights and stories, he had a host of tools that he has collected from around the world. And most importantly he is accommodating and expertly skilled at his craft. The space is tucked out of the way, down a narrow country lane and has a charming, almost magical feel to it. It's a very peaceful place to learn (even though you will be making a fair bit of noise). The views from the site are phenomenal. There is a good sized studio building and spaces outside, and when we arrived sebastian already had the log fire going and the kettle on. I could not recommend his stone carving course enough. I have found a new hobby."

Jayne & Norman reviewed: Beginners half-day pairs pottery / ceramics workshop

"I recieved a half day pottery class for 2 as a gift. Really wasn't sure what to expect as my artistic skills are limited! Louise greeted us with enthusiasm and a hot cup of coffee - after just a few minutes of coaching we were faced with a slab of clay to experiment with. We were like ducks to water... Had a thouroughly enjoyable afternoon, managed to create a pot or two which I am proud to call my own! Looking forward to returning to collect our pieces when they have been through the kiln. Would recommend this as a fabulous way to spend an afternoon - and maybe even start a new hobby! Jayne & Norman"

Isla reviewed: Weaving: the journey begins

"Ashleigh was supportive and patient, providing one to one tuiton on learning to weave. He talked through each skill, providing pattern cards to take away, then allowed time to practice and consolidate skills before moving on to the next part of the course. I came away with a completed sampler, and keen to try out my new skills on my own loom. Everyone at the Nest was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this course, and will be looking to book into the longer course later in the year. Thank you, Ashleigh!"

Lyn reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers

"I had a very enjoyable day revisiting lino printing, learning about different types of lino, tools and inks. Liz is an excellent tutor, well organised, knowledgeable and helpful. With course members limited to 3 we had lots of individual attention and we all worked on our own projects once the basics had been covered. I came away with a folder full of prints and the enthusiasm to do more. The Slipper Studio is a great place to work in with excellent facilities and we were well supplied with refreshments throughout the day. This is the second course I have taken with Liz and I will be booking more."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Lyn, Thanks for letting me know about your day at The Slipper Studio. It was lovely working with you both and great to have you here. You both made good progress and produced some lovely pieces. I feel confident that you’ll be able to continue lino cutting and printing at your own speed, so I look forward to seeing the results in the near future. I’m particularly interested as to how printing will work with your textile pieces. It will be a pleasure to have you here again and hopefully Bert will be a bit braver and more sociable. Best wishes Liz Wellby "
