Leigh reviewed: Explore your Creativity in Enamels - an introductory morning of enamelling for 2 people

"Myself and my 12 year old daughter attended the enamelling course run by Christine on Saturday 12 August 2023. Christine was really patient and helpful, especially with my daughter who hasn't done anything like this before. She was more than happy to answer our many questions and took the time to explain in detail, how to get the best results and what to look out for. Christine was very knowledgeable and really went out of her way to make sure we got the most out of the course. Great teacher and a lovely lady, I would definitely recommend this course!"

Original Kiln-fired Enamelled Jewellery responded:

"Thank you Leigh, for taking the time to review my course in such detail and for making such a lengthy journey to attend the enamelling session. I hope that the insights that you gained will help you in future creative projects. You both made lovely pieces and I'm sure your daughter's pendant will really impress as a gift."

Paul reviewed: Guitar Strumstick Dulcimer 3 strings instrument

"Ted is a top man and one of life's genuinely nice people. We could have chatted for hours and in fact we did. Muons, music, languages, classic TV, religion, community, karmic justice and many other subjects were covered. Had an excellent day. Oh, and I also made a superb dulcimer. I'm extremely pleased with the experience of the end product. If a Ukulele is too complex for you to play, make a dulcimer with Ted. You can't fail to sound good on it. Ted also supplies a little 4 chord hit for you to take away and amaze your friends with what you achieved in a day."

Teds Woodworking/ instrument making Courses responded:

"Very kind words Paul ! We did go down the rabbit hole quite a way indeed. Well done with the Strumstick build you were very methodical in your working. So glad we had time to chat about the universe and sub atomic particles. If you need to come again you have my contact details. Take care and check out Chris Perkins ukuleles at Southern uke store near Brighton. Kind regards Ted"

Jack reviewed: 2 day knife/axe making courses

"Absolutely exceptional experience, even better than I hoped. Friargate Forge is a genuine working forge, immersing you in the authentic blacksmith's environment, rather than a condescending arts and crafts workshop. Gary and Joss are great guys who taught me a lot in just two days. I would highly recommend this course to anyone!"

"I’ve always wanted to do woodturning and finally got round to it. Couldn’t have asked for a better tutor than Simon. So much more to it than I imagined but Simon instilled confidence through his knowledge and guidance. If you’ve never done it before don’t worry, you will be in good hands. Do it!"

Grant reviewed: Green Man clay sculpture course

"A fun day with templates to help get proportions, some ideas on different designs if you wanted it, good clear instruction and if (like me) you occasionally requested help, then simple constructive advice. Everyone, came away really pleased with their results and had individual designs. Ultimately I'd say, if never done clay work before, wanting to re-introduce yourself or just wanting to come away with a great finished article to hang on a wall in just one day, this ticked all the boxes. Thanks Miranda"

Amerton Arts Studio responded:

"Thanks for your review Grant, glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes Miranda"

June Dearnaley reviewed: Copper Foil Technique Stained Glass

"I really enjoyed my stained glass course with Amanda. Amanda explained each part of the process clearly and was patient with my attempts, always offering encouragement as I completed aspects of the copper foiling. I was pleased with my completed piece which I know owes a lot to the help I received from Amanda and I enjoyed her company for the day. "

Maxine reviewed: Inspired by Bloomsbury: exploring mixed media in Derbyshire.

"We booked the course to suit the weekend we had together without much prior awareness of the Bloomsbury style. Liz was very patient and allowed me to put my own interpretation on my final piece of artwork. Great opportunity to try new art media - I loved working with inks. The slipper studio is relaxed and friendly. A visit from Burt the cat was a fleeting bonus to the day! "

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Maxine, Good to hear from you. Thank you for letting me know about your time at The Slipper Studio. I really enjoyed working with you and was very impressed with your handling of the inks - the application of the black ink really brought the flowers to life and I hope this is a process you’ll continue exploring. Bert apologies for his limited visits - he was too busy hunting other furry creatures. Best wishes Liz Wellby "

Monika reviewed: Beginners 1-day pairs pottery / ceramics workshop

"I did a beginners all day workshop and then because it was so much fun I also did a half day throwing workshop. I loved both of them, Louise is a great teacher, and there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere (and lots of biscuits and tea), and she’s very flexible in what you can make. The pots and vases turned out very well and love the glazes that she put on as per our wishes. Super fun, would definitely recommend!"

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review Monika. It was a pleasure having you and your daughters here to learn handbuilding and throwing techniques. You all created some beautiful pieces and I'm really pleased you like the glazed results. Nice to hear you've already used one of your bowls for your breakfast this morning too :-). "
