DianeWalker reviewed: 3 hour Silver jewellery course

"My friend and I did the 3 hour workshop this week. Richard was great in communicating with us before the day, offering help regarding buses etc. We walked from York and took the bus back only £2 fare! My friend was a beginner and I had experience so Richard was great in offering support to us both where needed. We both made a silver ring and Richard explained processes well and demonstrated what to do. Lovely man made a great cup of tea too! Highly recommended, Di and Debs "

Richard Whitelegg Jewellery responded:

"Many thanks, it was a pleasure & good fun! regards Richard"

Denise Mayell reviewed: Small outdoor plaster hare sculpture kit (30cm) with full video instructions by Jo Garden Art

"Wow, such a wonderful little project to complete. The kit was perfectly labelled with a great YouTube video to follow at your leisure. I did my hare over the course of a couple of weeks. A sitting for each stage. Jo's explanation of the process was easy to follow and felt like you were in the room with her. As for 'Mr Hare' well he is just fantastic! I might wait for the weather to warm up before I put him outside, or knit him a jumper. He looks very majestic on my mantlepiece for the time being. I purchased as a gift for myself. I will be adding to my collection for sure. I might even sign up for an in house course and make a weekend of it some day soon. "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much for this wonderful review Denise! Love the idea of Mr Hare in a knitted jumper 😄😄😄. I hope to see you in my studio at some time, Jo xx"

Abbey Bailey reviewed: Pottery throwing in Huddersfield

"My husband and I booked a session with Geoff for a Friday afternoon and we both had an absolutely wonderful time. Geoff was really informative, giving us a tutorial first followed by us making our own bowls, and was on hand to help when we needed it, and was very motivational when I didn't think I was doing well. Neither of us have thrown pottery before (only done minimal but no spinning) and managed to create some wonderful small bowls which we can't wait to pick up once they've dried. The studio was brilliant and located easily to find. We would both highly recommend Earth Pig Pottery for any classes, and would love to come again. :)"

Earth Pig Pottery responded:

"Thank you for your kind review, Abbey. I’m glad you enjoyed the pottery session. I hope to see you again if you come back to glaze your pots! "

Jennie B reviewed: Mosaic/chat/create! with award winning mosaicist Emma Abel

"I had a fantastic creative day on a one day course with Emma at Abel Mosaics. Emma is great teacher, she provides lots of inspiration, guides you through what is possible, then patiently teaches you step by step how to create your own piece. Her stunning mosaic’s make it look easy, but I soon realised there is so much skill involved in her intricate work. The studio is well set up with a great selection of wonderful tiles in so many colours for us to use, all the tools and boards were supplied. The studio is lovely and light, looking out onto the garden. I will definitely come back and do another course with Emma, so much more to learn."

abelmosaics responded:

"Thanks very much for your Review Jennie, you made a great mosaic, lots of detail and great blending of colours. I look forward to seeing you here again."

Wendy Pitman reviewed: Beginners 1 Day Traditional Stained Glass Course

"Gill is an amazing teacher, very approachable, easy to get along with and incredibly talented. The day started with us choosing a stained-glass pattern and everything we did from that point was geared to us producing an amazing stained-glass piece of art. To do this required us to learn how to cut glass, straight lines, and curves, use a special machine to grind and smooth the glass and to build the pattern up on a pre-drawn template. The glass techniques are timeless and all the glass inter-locked into preformed lead channels. The final part of the process was using a 100w soldering iron to weld the lead strips together. Gill guided us all the way and the end result was an amazing piece of stained-glass artwork – artwork produced in similar ways to artwork in churches. Gill provided all the necessary PPE. Can’t thank Gill enough for an amazing day. The artwork is now proudly displayed in my living room. "

Gill Rogers responded:

"Wow, thank you so much Wendy for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! It was so lovely to meet you and I had such a fun day too. Hope you enjoy displaying your beautiful stained glass panel and well done you, it looked absolutely stunning! All my very best wishes and hope to see you again sometime in the near future, Gill x"

"A great day of one to one guidance on how to make a bowl on a traditional pole lathe. I wouldn’t have thought it was possible to come away with a usable bowl, but with Steve’s teaching and guidance I managed. A really enjoyable day, which has inspired me to build my own pole lathe and crack on with some more bowls!"

Benjy Curzon-Jones reviewed: Woodcarving with Jason Thomson sculptural woodcarving with hand tools, eccentric whittling courses, Sheffield.

"An excellent day learning a new skill! Jason is a very talented artist and was very welcoming to his studio that he shares with his wife. He has a wide variety of works displayed around his studio, or which he talked through briefly at the beginning. I'd seen a fair few dotted around Sheffield prior to the course and not realised they were his! After a quick intro, we picked out wood and started sketching ideas about what to make. Jason was on hand to help with suggestions about what would work well and what wouldn't. We then had a brief run through of the tools and techniques, and off we went. Wood carving is a fascinating process as you start to work the wood more and more and see your creation emerge chip-by-chip. The day flew by as I was fully engrossed in the process. I'd even bought a few basic tools when back home so I can continue to hone my skills. All in all this was a brilliant experience in a relaxed setting with a friendly tutor who encouraged you to try anything you could think of, and have fun doing it. Thanks a lot Jason!"

Jason Thomson - Sculptor responded:

"Hi Benjy wow -what a fantastic review and thank you for it and your own energetic input to an exciting day of wildly diverse woodcarving mini projects. Great working with green birch too!"

It was a relaxed day and we laughed a lot, particularly over the cactus.🌵 I highly recommend this workshop and not just for the freshly baked banana cake."

Jackie Nash Art responded:

"It was a pleasure teaching you both about mosaic. And I’m very glad you appreciated the 🌵. If you have any further questions about grouting, just get in touch. Best wishes Jackie "
