Helen Ward reviewed: Mosaics Taster near Exeter, Devon

"Really enjoyed the course with Denny last night was a bit like a rabbit in headlights to start with, but she was very encouraging helping everybody out and really had some inspirational ideas. I would definitely recommend this to anybody wanting to have a go at Mosaics the refreshments were also very yummy. I will be back again."

MosaicXandMe responded:

"Hi Helen I think your review was the fastest yet - thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed yourself and settled into it despite the initial 'headlights' moment! You all did really well and completed your pieces - don't forget to send a photo once you've grouted them. Hopefully see you (all) again some time. Kind regards Denny"

Martin Jackson reviewed: Spoon carving taster session

"Yesterday I did a wooden spoon making course with Dave Atkin. It was a really good experience and I enjoyed every minute, I would highly recommend the session. The session lasted for 3 hours which included a demonstration from Dave, lots of practical work making my spoon and excellent teaching and advice. Dave was very welcoming, friendly and an obvious expert in his field. The time flew and by the end of the session I had made a wooden spoon using only an axe and a knife. A very rewarding experience leaving me with a great feeling of achievement. "

Toby reviewed: Spinning Wool on a Spinning Wheel - Individual Tuition

"I thoroughly enjoyed my two days with Bec at The Woven Briar. Bec provided great insight into different types of wool and the sheep from which it is sourced. She provided clear instructions and demonstrated the methods of carding and combing, through to getting used to powering the spinning wheel so that when it came time to start spinning I needed to focus less in my feet and more on my hands. Meeting Bec’s flock of sheep was a real treat especially Vita whom loved a chin scratch. I can wholeheartedly recommend this workshop to get you started in the world of spinning your own yarn. "

The Woven Briar Ltd responded:

"Thank you so much Toby it was a pleasure to spend time spinning with you. I can't wait to see how you take it forward and develop your style. Vita says hello!"

Kevin Charles William Woolnough reviewed: Woodturning tuition in Wiltshire

"Had a very enjoyable day with Andy who spent the first hour explaining and demonstrating the use of many wood turning tools and machinery before allowing me some hands on experience in practicing some of the skills he had demonstrated. During the afternoon we made a bowl and this was a great experience to see how this was done and to have the opportunity to see Andy's skill's at their best. Again, I was able to participate at different stages and thrilled to have something to take home. A great day and thank you to Andy, Mary and Angus for being great hosts. Highly recommended to those who may be considering giving it a try."

Adeline Fleming reviewed: Glass Fusing Taster Day in Ware, Hertfordshire

"What a wonderful course! I am a complete novice and finished the day with a beautiful glass panel and a love for a new craft. Jane started the morning explaining the differences between the three main types of glass work before delving into detail on sourcing and using different glass fusing materials as well as beginner techniques. I then practiced scoring and cutting class and developing a design for my panel. I spent the rest of the day building my panel to my design. Jane's teaching style has the perfect balance of providing her expertise and guidance as needed whilst allowing me to learn and try things out. Thank you for such a wonderful day."

Helene reviewed: Introduction to English Willow Basket Making- Weekend Course

"I thoroughly enjoyed the willow basket making course with Jonathan and his mascot Willow who was adorable! Jonathan was an excellent teacher. He helped ensure each of us got the tuition we needed to do a good job and make two baskets we could use and enjoy. On day two he really helped us consolidate our knowledge so that we felt able to apply our skills outside of the weekend session. Nice touch on Jonathan’s part to bring homemade cake and make coffee. He made sure we had enough breaks to keep us fresh and able to keep focused on the projects. If there was one thing I would enhance in the class it would be to add a bit more history and background about the tradition of growing and harvesting willow in Norfolk and basket making in the area."
