Peter Gilbert reviewed: Learn to Turn in the Dartmoor National Park

"I have now attended two of Chris' wonderful courses. The first was so enjoyable I took my son along for the second. Chris' teaching style is humourous and knowledgeable and he supports you at every stage of the wood turning process. At the end of the day you find that by some miracle you have produced a perfectly turned bowl and learnt some impressive skills. It is a process which requires concentration and precision and although you start out very nervous about what injuries you may be about to inflict on the innocent piece of wood ( not to mention the lathe and tools ) you very soon relax under Chris' guidance and encouragement and find yourself mesmerised by the activity. The Dartmoor location and Chris' excellent supply of chocolate biscuits and bonhomie make it a day of complete satisfaction."

kyle reviewed: Blacksmithing for beginners - one day taster

"The one day blacksmith course was bought as a gift and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I have no experience in this and I managed to come away with some lovely metal work at the end of the day. Aaron Peterson gave very good demonstrations, there was no paperwork and we were straight onto the hands on tools which was great. I would highly recommend this course to anyone as Aaron is very patient and will help you work at your own pace."

Amy sutton reviewed: Interior design and decor; evening crash course

"A truly amazing course and I am gutted the four weeks are over! I was very lucky as had another 3 fantastic girls on the course with me, I felt that I'd made new friends as well as learning so much from Lucy. The relaxed atmosphere of Lucy's home made a brilliant learning environment and I feel confident enough, after only 4 weeks, to take on my own project. Thank you Lucy (and fellow students) for 4 great weeks! Amy"

Terry Thomas reviewed: Make a Windsor chair

"It all started when my children bought me the stool making course for fathers day. It was great fun. Ben is an excellent teacher with a wealth of knowledge. He is also very personable and made sure everyone got the time and attention they needed to complete their project. After two Saturdays I came away with a great stool and trust for more. I had been searching for a creative outlet for years now and this really fitted the bill. So much so I booked myself on the chair making course and loved every minute of it. I have come away confident enough to start making chairs on my own. Ben continued to be a help after the course with reminders and tips via email. I don't think there is anything else like it in London."

karin Mark reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"Absolutely loved the course. Lucy is a good Tutor and excellent host . I am very pleased with the result of my project , which was upholstering an 100 year old dining room chair. Lucy's advise not to paint the chair but just strip it down to the natural wood proved right. My 17 year old daughter also enjoyed it very much and felt treated as an adult. Thank you"

Georgie Oldroyde reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"I arrived in some trepidation, not really believing I had it in me to sufficiently master the tools and techniques required to come away with something of which I could be proud.....but I was proved totally wrong and it is a tribute to Peter's teaching skills and the careful structure of the course that the outcome for all attending was such a great success. Both Peter and his trusty assistant, Jav (sp?) exercised great patience and good humour, balancing helpful interventions whilst encouraging autonomy - their graceful use of the different tools that shaped our work was such a contrast to my own clumsy attempts, but they never cast a value judgement upon that, which was what helped to make the course such an enriching experience in so many ways. My husband and I returned home with a stool and small table respectively and even our teenagers let slip some admiration for our efforts."
