Sarah reviewed: Pottery wheel throwing & glass fusing 1-day course

"My husband and I went to do a day learning how to throw pots and getting to grips so the fused glass. Sarah and Chris were both fantastic. Encouraging, knowledgeable and really made the day special. Sarah did the fused glass with us first. She shows us the basics, and then let us work our way from a basic piece to something a little more adventurous. I think there will be some beautiful pieces out of the session. Chris showed us how to throw pots. He started with the basics, giving real clear and helpful instructions and guidance. I love that he was able to guide us so easily but didn’t once stop us being able to put ourselves right and learn from his years of experience. I loved being able to choose how we slip glazed the pots too - a really lovely element of this particular course. The lunch was delicious and the drinks flowed throughout the day. No complaints on that front at all and a lovely added extra to the day. I cannot wait to see the end results. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something a bit different where you really get some focussed tuition and a chance to learn from their skills and years or expertise. "

Sarah Greening Glass responded:

"Thank you so much for leaving such a great and detailed review - I'm sure that is helpful to others wondering about doing our course! Thanks very much"

"Wicked Fun, Awesome course and tutor :-), Definitely would love to do another blacksmithing day or 2 again. Very interesting facts, and a eye opener to different skills and techniques to the blacksmithing crafting world. Went as a group of four on my cousin's birthday, a complete novice, yet with the brilliant friendly guidance and loads of help from Matt (tutor) and Floyd we all produced 4 great starter hooks and 4 striking knives. A memorable challenge that can be done reaping great rewarding achievements. "

I was a complete novice when I started the dress making course but the workshops include everything you need to know from reading and understanding patterns to actually seeing it all together. "Fantastic day-long introduction to spoon carving and green wood working in a lovely setting. David and Caroline's passion and enthusiasm for their craft was infectious, and their tuition was excellent. We also received a lot of useful knowledge on the carving process and keeping your tools sharp. Highly recommend this course. "

Amelia reviewed: STITCHING WITH BEAK BREWERY

"I can highly recommend, I had a really excellent time. It was great to get to learn a new skill and Saskia was really helpful and welcoming. It was great to have the opportunity to practice the skills first, then the option of mending something of our own. Saskia took the time to look at all the items people brought with them, and talked us through how to fix them. A really fun activity to do alone, or with a friend (I took my dog as the venue was dog friendly)."

Mend House responded:

"What a lovely review! Thank you so much Amelia, it was lovely to have you at the workshop. "

Ben reviewed: Full day introductory knifemaking course

"My friends and I did the day of knife making with Matt and it was such a great day. Matt and Floyd greeted us, got us sorted with a cup of tea and went through how the forge works, safety, and a demonstration efficiently and had us making our first hooks in no time which I really appreciate. Within the first hour we were on to starting the knives and it was a lot fun (and lots and lots of hard work!). Matt helped us out and gave us tips and tricks along the way, as well as fixing our mistakes. By the end of the day we had some functional knives that looked pretty good for a first attempt as well as aching arms. We decided to eat at the King's Head pub a little down the road before the drive home and Matt and Floyd joined us for a drink and we spent a while chatting. Overall, I couldn't recommend this experience enough. It was so much fun, enjoyably difficult, and we felt like we got more value out of the experience than what we paid for. Cheers Matt and Floyd! We'll be back to make a sword soon."

Fair Mile Forge responded:

"Thank you for the excellent review Ben, It was so great to meet you all and teach such a brilliant group! I hope you are all pleased with your first work , it was hard work but you all put in the graft and did an excellent job, well done! and hope to see you again soon"
