Claire M reviewed: Candle making class & bubbly in Brighton & Hove

"Studio space is fab! Well worth the 1.5hr drive I made. Trust google maps is sending you to the right place, I wandered around in the pouring rain thinking it must be wrong as it took me to a residential property. The studio is at the back of 14a Wilbury Road. I would love to go again and try out another of Charlie's workshops."

Andrew Holly reviewed: Woodcarving Tuition in Cornwall

"I had been give a two day course as a present and bought a day course for Andrew. Zoe is a gentle, thoughtful person who guides you through the different processes as you go along. She's always on hand for tips on how to achieve the best results and encourages you when you are doubtful in your ability. After the first day I had carved a hedgehog on an end grain piece of wood that I have since used to block print fabric. Andrew carved a 3 D hedgehog which is sat in our lounge. I would thoroughly recommend this course, ensure you go armed with an idea of what you'd like to achieve. Zoe also sells chisels which is really useful as you can see what type of shape suits you best before committing to a purchase. Great course"

Catherine reviewed: Lino Printing Day with Oxford Linocut Workshops

"I hugely enjoyed this course and came away feeling really pleased with my linocut and both inspired and confident to have a go at home. The day was run in a very effective way, so that we had clear instruction and practice so we knew what we were doing, and then plenty of time to invent and work on our own designs with Claire's expert support. I'd recommend this course enthusiastically to anyone with the slightest interest in trying linocut printing."

Craig reviewed: Alien spoon carving

"Alan provided an excellent introduction to spoon carving. He led a thoroughly enjoyable day, explaining the different tools we'd be using, and the techniques that we'd be learning to help carve efficiently, and most importantly to keep ourselves safe. The course was a great mix of demonstrations from Alan, with loads of time to get stuck into carving our spoons. Alan was also happy to answer questions and provide more specific advice as we progressed with our carving. We were all kept extremely well fed and watered throughout the day, with regular breaks to recharge, and a fantastic lunch provided by Alan's partner. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone looking to try their hand at spoon carving!"

Janice Manchester reviewed: Drawing Tai Chi - 1 day workshop - Worthing West Sussex

"This was the first of Tricia's classes that I attended. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. The morning session was quite intense but after the initial warm up sketches, I felt that we had sufficient time to complete more complete drawings. The model, Katie, was fabulous and a perfect subject. Tricia was very helpful to everyone and provided just the right amount of support when needed. I thought I would be inexperienced compared to the other attendees, but this was a very mixed group and everyone was welcoming. The afternoon session was interesting with the opportunity to try two types of printing. Time didn't permit us to try both, but it would be nice to have a go at the second option on another occasion. I look forward to attending future workshop and will be checking Tricia's website for other art classes that I may be able to attend on a more regular basis."

Art with Tricia responded:

"I'm so glad you enjoyed your first session. You are right the group is quite a mix of different abilities and I hope I can make everyone feel part of the group by spending more time with newer students and pushing those with more experience to challenge themselves."

"I booked this workshop for me and my friends for my birthday. None of us had made jewellery before. It was so much fun and we all got to be really creative with our time. Viv was wonderful, really helpful and patient during the day and helped all of us make what we wanted. She responded quickly to all of my enquires and gave lots of information before we attended. Christine Wood reviewed: Create beautiful animal portraits in workshops on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales

"A super workshop and as there were only two of us, 1:1 support from Kate! I hadn't previously considered portraits, but thoroughly enjoyed the session and have been completely inspired by pastels! Thank you, Kate for your encouragement and enthusiasm. PS I showed my sister the pastel picture of the Highland cow and she has asked me to complete one of her horse! I may need some help, Kate!!"

Kate West responded:

"Hi Christine, Really chuffed you’ve fallen in love with pastels! My concerns over running such a small workshop successfully were quickly laid to rest, working with Pip and you was an absolute joy, so thank you. It doesn’t surprise that you have been asked to do your first commission, your Highland was a little cutie! Really pleased for you ? Help always at hand although I don’t think you will need too much! Kate"

"Brian is one in a million. Patient, creative, giving you space to experiment but knowing you have an expert tutor on hand. I learnt so much and have so many creative ideas rushing around my head, I will just have to go back to do more glasswork. Brian is thoughtful and helps you push your thinking on and allows you to try different things; all in a day! Wonderful!"

Jonathan Whittle reviewed: The clay portrait room

"My wife had arranged a sculpting course for us as a gift and I'd understood (assumed!) this would be woodcarving, so I was somewhat taken aback when we arrived to find a life model and buckets of fresh clay! Despite my initial reticence though, we both really enjoyed the course. Sculpting from a life model was certainly outside of my comfort zone, but the very relaxed atmosphere and Anthony's excellent tuition meant we were quickly in the swing of it. The process over the 9 weeks is very well structured and allows you to build skills and an understanding of the materials and tools at a manageable pace, with an enjoyable level of challenge throughout. The studio is a pleasant working environment and the other participants, some budding sculptors, some total beginners, were enjoyable company."

Fiona B reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"We had a fantastic time learning the basics of blacksmithing with Adrian, Andy and Debbie. A warm welcome, delicious food from Debbie and expert tuition from Andy and Adrian. Everything was explained and demonstrated clearly and we were able to start working the metal right away. There was a perfect balance of being left to get on with it ourselves but being given help and advice when needed. We came away proudly with our keyrings and coathooks and fantastic memories. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the experience."

Cathy reviewed: Clay sculpture workshops - Monday evening

"Beatrice is a thoughtful teacher with an extensive knowledge. Her enthusiasm never wanes, striving to stretch each individual student’s capacity for improvement to the max. I have found the sessions to be extremely therapeutic and immersive. The workshop is held in a charming space at Beatrice’s home, with access to a wonderful garden for working outside or quiet reflection. The atmosphere is supportive without being overpowering, with advice in bucket loads or opportunities for gentle concentration as needed. There are a vast array of tools, resources and stimuli readily available at all times."

Karen reviewed: Small needle felted animals or pictures

"My friend and I spent a day with Barbara making our creations; my friend made a gorgeous Jemima Puddleduck and I made a Hare. We had a lovely day. Barbara is a relaxed and kind person who generously shares her expertise in a really humble way. She made us both feel comfortable and embraced the quirkiness of our creations. Indeed, we both loved that she did not try to 'fix' what we had done, but allowed our work to be just that: our work. We had an absolutely lovely day and would thoroughly recommend her courses."

Feltworld - Creative Arts responded:

"Thank you for such a lovely review Karen. Your hare and Jemima look fabulous ?. I do feel that it’s important not to take over my students work lol. I must admit that I have to keep my hands tied behind me sometimes unless I’m given permission to fix of course!! Merry Christmas"
