Nicky Whitton reviewed: Carry all/tote bag short course

"A great Christmas gift from my brother in law. My sister, my niece and I had a fantastic day last Sunday making leather tote bags. With so much choice of colours/styles of leather we were really spoilt for choice and took our time choosing our personal favourites. The day flew by as we cut out our pieces, glued, then sewed the bits together (having practiced our skills on the different sewing machines). Deborette was a wonderful tutor, putting us all at ease and helping whenever and wherever needed, as well as providing plenty of drinks, biscuits and lunch. The finished products all looked very professional, and are all obviously unique. I know I would like to go back and make another one, and would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of taking part."

Such a lovely relaxed session, no experience necessary, thousands of gorgeous beads to choose from and we have both come away with beautiful professional looking bracelets that were actually very easy to make under Scarlet's supervision. We are both totally inspired and will be looking to come back for another workshop. Fabulous experience, highly recommended."

Sharon Martin reviewed: Wheel throwing experience - half day course

"Jayne was very welcoming and creates a relaxed atmosphere which really helped with the experience. Clear instruction and a demonstration really helped and it was just the right balance of help and letting you have a go. In fact I spent a lot more time on the wheel than I imagined I would and managed 4 pots! Jayne is super encouraging and very calm, putting mistakes right and helping you achieve something to be proud of. Can’t wait to see how they look after firing. Highly recommend as a great intro and I think I’m hooked on looking at further ceramic experiences."

The Studio at Clapham responded:

"Thank you so much Sharon. It was a pleasure! I look forward to seeing you again soon."

Heather Nowak reviewed: Private or private group silver jewellery making/silversmithing workshop day at Silver Designed Personally

"I have really just started trying to make jewellery in silver but still had no idea of what I wanted to do - despite seeing hundreds of images in Facebook, Instagram etc! Over mugs of tea in Sara’s lovely kitchen with Misty sitting by our feet, we went through what I had done, what I liked and what we could feasibly do in the time we had Then off we went to the amazing workshop in her Kent garden. I spent all day learning new techniques and using Sara’s own tools to make a hammered silver cuff bracelet, a pair of sparkling little silver star earrings and the adventurous retriculated silver earrings with star cut outs - suitable for any high flying meeting or potential girl band rock star! Star is warm, friendly and kind (no wrist slapping or sighs). She lets you work at your own pace and steps in at exactly the right moment Anyone booking this course will have the most fantastic day or even few hours here. Spoil yourself and spend some time mastering a little piece of silver magic"

Silver Designed Personally responded:

"Heather .... thank you so much for such an amazing review, I'm so glad you enjoyed your day and I had fun too ... looking forward to seeing you again to see what we can do next :-) Sara"

Joanne reviewed: Introduction to candle-making as a business

"I attended the introduction to candle making course as a business. Jo was an excellent teacher, really warm and friendly and so knowledgable with everything she taught. Small group sizes means that everyone was attended to fully. There are several important and pertinent safety and legal implications that one should know about if considering doing this as a business. We made a few different selection of candles to take home with a few different choices of scents, these make wonderful gifts! The day was laid back and informal and I can't rave highly enough about the lovely Jo and her assistant all so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this course to anyone, plenty of free parking at the venue with facilities. Lovely area of Lavenham which is so beautiful to visit after the course. Gift vouchers available which I believe make wonderful gifts for anyone that likes crafts. A really enjoyable and fun day, I can't recommend highly enough. Thank you so much!"

Eddie and Bin Bailey reviewed: Basket making for beginners using traditional willow basketry techniques

"We spent an extremely happy and productive day with Jon at The Granary with our Baskets for Beginners course. Warmly greeted with tea and coffee we felt at home immediately and after an introduction to our tools, techniques and objectives we wasted no time at all getting stuck in. With a class size no more than 8 Jon was able to provide constant one-to-one tuition and amend any snags. My 81 year old mum joined us and although her hands are not quite as Strong and supple as they used to be it was no trouble at all for Jon or Beki to lend a helping hand and friendly encouragement. Lunch was a masterclass in itself! A plated meal around the large kitchen table with the most delicious array of fresh, variably herby dishes like couscous with pomegranate, jewel tomatoes, sliced cucumber, and slaw accompanied by a choice of warm savoury tarts (sweet potato tart for the vegan). All homemade. By the end of the day we had all produced baskets to be proud of and take home. Will definitely be back!"

Jeremy Keen reviewed: The complete basics of woodturning (2 days)

"If you are considering taking a dip into the world of wood and turning then look no further than this two-day immersion course with Mark. I completed the course a couple of days ago and am still trying to process all that I have learned. Since I was a self-taught producer of 'dog-bowls', Mark had to gently and patiently dismantle and then rebuild my basic technique with clarity but in ways that were always encouraging and humour-filled. I was particularly grateful for lessons in sharpening and his re-grinding of some of the tools I had brought along. The two days were full of the wisdom of his many years of turning and teaching with great advice on essential tools and their manufacture or most economic purchase. Comprehensive notes and an extensive, personalised, list of internet resources compiled as we proceeded through the two days is already proving invaluable. I only hope he'll have me back for another day or two at some point!"
