Val Master reviewed: Felt Pictures-Painting with fibres - intro to 2D wet felting/felt making

"Went on this course yesterday to make a wet felted picture. Heather is a great teacher and takes you through step by step explaining the reasons behind things. Loads of colours to choose from and just the right amount of time to come away with a finished product. I feel I have learned a lot and could improve on what I made next time so I would like to go back. It is a very enjoyable way to spend a few hours and we even had tea and bakes to help us along the way. The flapjacks were lovely :-)"

Laura Darby reviewed: 1 day introduction to silver jewellery making

"I bought this course as a Christmas present for my partner, and after opening it he asked if I would want to go along with him. I contacted Jonathan who responded that he couldn’t fit in an extra person on the date I had booked, but that he would open up one of his free weekends to include me as well. I can’t thank him enough for being so flexible and accommodating! We really enjoyed our day with Jonathan. He is a really amazing tutor and we both came away excited to get going with our new hobby! It was relaxed and informal and he is a really entertaining and genuine person, I’m really glad I chose this course. Jonathan took us through how to set up a workshop, different tools we would need and his recommendations for where to buy them and what to spend. Really invaluable advice for beginners! Throughout the day we had an endless supply of tea and coffee - some gorgeous home made ginger nuts (which Jonathan was kind enough to send me the recipe for!), and a really lovely lunch of soup, with some cold cuts of ham and cheeses. Overall we came out with two lovely silver rings, a new hobby to take up, and had a really lovely day together. I cannot recommend this course enough, and will be looking to come back and see Jonathan again in the future!"

Lisa reviewed: Regular ceramic & glazing tuition and pottery wheel workshops Shetland

"Went for the three-hour course with two other friends. The space is warm, welcoming and Sonje is an excellent tutor. Instructions are easy to follow and you’re pretty much hands on with clay almost straight away. We had a great laugh, and I was amazed at what, as a complete novice, was able to produce. Can’t wait to go again!"

Werxzovart responded:

"Thanks for the nice review Lisa! It was lovely to meet you all and great to hear you enjoyed the workshop. You all did some very impressive pieces especially as you hadn't been on a pottery wheel before! I look forward to seeing the pots when they are fired and thanks again for coming to do the workshop. Sonje"

Alison Whittaker reviewed: Watercolour painting day - Floral & botanical - with artist Laura Andrew

"I attended Laura's watercolour painting day course as a complete beginner. She put myself and all of the rest of the small group of 4 others very at ease, and introduced us slowly to the wonderful world of watercolour. It was a lovely space to enjoy and lots of individual attention was given to all of us. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to other beginners who want to get an idea of how to get started with watercolour painting."

frank reviewed: One day intensive traditional stained glass for beginners

"I cannot recommend learning to make stained glass with Angela of Herston stained glass strongly enough! I was very anxious about working with glass and the thought of actually making a piece of glass art in one day seemed to me... a complete novice... well to say the least daunting! But with Angela's calm clear and relaxed instructional style and with her depth of experience she guided me through the day to complete a piece of stained glass work that was very satisfying to me and even recognisable to others ...a miracle ! Coupled with the beautiful maritime landscape where she is lucky to live and the very creative atmosphere it was all in all a fantastic and much recommended experience."

Herston Stained Glass responded:

"Thank you for your very positive review. I enjoyed our day together and you made a great stained glass panel. I hope I can encourage you to make some more!"
