Description

Two day (consecutive) structured wet felt making course to make a 'Enchanted Woodland" wall hanging completed with hand embroidery and needle felted details. Dates Thursday 18th - Saturday 20th September The course is for a maximum of seven people. It is run by highly experienced fibre artist and tutor Josephine Gornall. You will be able to make an 'Enchanted Woodland’ scene. In this fully guided workshop ideal for beginners and improvers. It will be wet felted and embellished with needle felting and stitch into a fully finished large picture (approx 40x40cm) similar to the one pictured ready for framing or hung on the wall Overview of the two and a half day course: Day One Afternoon: Optional make a small needle felted picture and practise the technique, or just enjoy your surroundings ready to start the wet felted Woodland scene the next day. Day One: 10.30 - 5pm approx: Full instructions and demonstration on how to create the felted woodland scene onto your (provided) wool background, choosing colours which will all be prepared, blending, layering a range of wool and some plant fibres to build up the picture. Information on how different wool and plant fibres felt together. Followed by step-by-step instructions on how to wet felt it all together. Day two: 10.30 - 4pm approx: Embellishment of your now dry felted picture using needle felting techniques and hand embroidery to create textures, flowers, wildlife, etc. Plus tips and ideas for mounting your completed felted picture at a later stage ready for framing or display as a wall hanging. Please note that this is a 2 and a half day course but only day 1 shows as available in the calendar. Just book a place on this date, and it will include the full course This is a two day residential course for 6/7 people. It includes all materials and use of equipment. Also included will be accommodation in a mixture of rooms. Welcome tea/coffee, cake & fruit 2 x self serve breakfasts, 2 x shared lunches 1 x meal out very nearby on the Thursday night. Josephine shared her extensive experience , skills and knowledge freely with us in a very relaxed and supportive manner . The process itself is quite therapeutic and we could have carried on longer and have been inspired and enabled to have a go at this at home . Hebden bridge also made a lovely and interesting break for us as a family as a bonus . I would thoroughly recommend this course and Josephine . We found wet felting quite addictive ! "

She explained about all the different wools and about mixing colours for the picture. She was very clear with instructions and very good at suggesting ideas to improve your picture. I found the two days very relaxing and would definitely recommend it. We were taught in a small group so help and advice was always available. Josephine has an amazing selection of different wools and fibres to try and experiment with. She puts a lot of effort in to making sure that your day is enjoyable and that you come home with a picture that you’re pleased with. Thanks so much, I had a great time. "
