The Art of Faux Pâtisserie — 2-Day Fake Food Sculpture Workshop
Description
Step into the historic artist town of Kirkcudbright and join us at the Fake Food Workshop — the UK’s only dedicated faux food store and creative studio — for a truly unique two-day experience. You’ll be taught by award-winning sculptor Kerry Samantha Boyes, whose work is in high demand worldwide. From supplying the film and television industry to building bespoke replica menus for historic houses and museums, Fake Food Workshop is renowned for its lifelike craftsmanship and attention to detail. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn to create your own collection of faux patisserie. Working in small, supported groups, you'll model a gingerbread biscuit, three French-style macarons, a fruit tart, and a traditional éclair. You'll explore Jesmonite casting, fine hand-painting, and apply final touches to bring each piece to life. To complete your creations, you’ll have access to our collection of pre-made faux fruits and decorative toppings, allowing you to finish your patisserie as refined or as extravagant as you wish. No prior experience is needed — just creativity and a willingness to explore. Finished pieces are carefully dried and posted to you after the class. What you will learn: - Basics of food sculpture and form-making. - Jesmonite casting techniques. - Hand-painting and final touches for realism. - Composition and presentation of faux patisserie.
