Lakeland Mosaics at Cowshed Creative

At Cowshed Creative in the Lake District, we run an extensive range of art and craft workshops in our beautifully converted art studio near Windermere and Kendal. Create your own contemporary mosaic using local materials such as slate and rhyolite, foraged and reclaimed stone, brick and quartz with shell, glass smalti and re-cycled ceramic detail. Enjoy the expressive qualities of the different stone and learn to create an eye-catching image of an animal, flowers or an abstract piece to hang on your wall. You could choose from the local flora and fauna for inspiration or bring along your own image to work from. No experience needed. Una Aynsley studied Art History and Architecture at the University of East Anglia. She later studied in Ravenna learning advanced mosaic techniques and is a member of British Association of Modern Mosaic. Una has made mosaics and murals to commission for bars, restaurants, schools and private clients. She has also worked as a children’s book illustrator, in galleries and teaching art classes. Una lives in the Lake District at the foot of a Cumbrian fell surrounded by slate walls, bracken, dense moss and lichen covered ancient rain forest. Her work takes inspiration from this wonderful landscape. She exhibits with Green Door Artists. Treat yourself to a creative experience on our traditional Lakeland farm near Windermere and Kendal and take inspiration from the stunning Lakeland landscape in the peaceful Kentmere valley. What's included in the price?

£78 includes some great tuition, a stunning venue, tea and coffee throughout the day and a homemade tray bake. You need to bring your own packed lunch. There is a fridge and microwave if required. There is an additional material fee of £15 covers all the materials you will need to create a natural stone mosaic.  If you would like to include more expensive Smalti / Filati Venetian glass in your piece, there will be an additional fee of £5.
