Jewellery making workshop - Keum Boo with Beccy Gillatt at Yardley Arts Northamptonshire

On this 3 hour course you will be guided through the ancient Korean technique of Keum-boo to create a design of your choice. You will learn how to make a beautiful textured pendant or pair of earrings in fine silver and add a striking detail of 24ct gold. You will: * Test applying textures on metal using papers and fabrics in a rolling mill and a range of hammers * Design your pendant or earrings * Cut the gold Keum-boo foil to the desired shape using paper cutting stamps, scissors or craft knife * Apply gold foil onto your fine silver sheet using heat and pressure * Roll or hammer your texture * Cut sheet metal using disc cutters, shaped cutters, piercing saw or shears * File and sand shape to refine design * Burnish edges * Add fittings and findings to complete design Materials: Included in the course fee Tutor: Jess Level: Perfect for total beginners as well as those with some experience

Maker
I was interested in making and designing from a very early age and developed my first jewellery range in 2000. I then discovered my love for teaching in 2004 and have been developing my courses ever since. I have a home teaching studio for 1:1 & 1:2 sessions and in 2017 I set up a teaching studio at Yardley Arts where I can teach up to 11 learners. Qualifications: BA in Designed Metalwork and Jewellery from BCUC and MA Royal College of Art Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery.
