Family Open Afternoon at Cilrath Acre (with willow craft activity)
Description
Join us in the natural outdoor setting of Cilrath Acre for a family-friendly open afternoon, with a willow-craft activity. If you're looking for new ways of entertaining your children or grandchildren during the Summer holidays, why not bring them to our beautiful community garden for the afternoon? As well as a tour of our growing spaces, abundant with fruit, flowers and vegetables, you can join in a child-friendly willow craft activity, and take your craftwork home with you. N.B. booking is essential for each child on the craft activity as places are limited. However, other family members, or friends, are very welcome to come along and enjoy time in the garden. The craft activity will be led by maker and environmentalist Daisy Buckle, founder of the Natural Curiosity studio. Daisy will teach the children to make a willow star, like the one depicted here. To find out more about Daisy and her work, please get in touch via the 'message the tutor' button. N.B. There are spaces for 12 children on the craft activity, so please book one place for each child taking part. Children under the age of 12 may need some adult help with making their stars. Please note: we cannot provide child care or supervision and all children must be accompanied throughout the session by a responsible adult. Thank you. As a charity we would kindly ask for a minimum donation of £5 per family towards the costs of refreshments and materials for the craft activity. However, should you feel able to pay more, then additional donations would be gratefully received and will help to support us as a charity. *There is no need to pay in advance, but please bring cash on the day.*
What's included in the price?
We will provide light refreshments for children and their responsible adults. And craft workshop materials are also provided. Maker
Cilrath Acre is based on Cilrath Fach farm close to Narberth. We run a productive and regenerative growing space, bringing together community and connecting people to nature, the land and locally grown food. Our aim is to take positive action, in response to the climate emergency whilst addressing food poverty and building community resilience. We provide at least 50% of the produce we grow to Pembrokeshire Foodbank, on a weekly basis during the harvesting season (approximately June to February). Since early 2024 we have also been running varied learning activities on the land on themes of growing food, permaculture, land-based skills and food preparation and preservation.
