Description

Join us at Cilrath Acre for a fun-filled workshop learning about science through nature! (Suitable for children aged 8 years+). In this half-day workshop (morning OR afternoon), children will learn about the wonders of science through nature. We'll be delving into the soil, meeting some characters of the underworld, identifying using charts and the microscope, and understanding connection and food webs. We'll also be learning new skills such as testing soil and learning about the pH scale. The workshop will be led by experienced practitioner and tutor Dina Kingsnorth from Patch of the Planet. Booking: Please select either a morning OR afternoon session for this workshops and only book the space/s for the child/children attending. N.B. There is space for 8 children on each session, so please book one place for each child you are bringing with you. Please note children will need to be accompanied for the duration of this workshop by a parent/guardian or responsible adult. Workshop costs: the price of this workshop is just £5 per child, which is great value for such a high quality activity. However, we want to ensure that every child who would like a place is able to access it, regardless of family income, so please get in touch if you would like a free place for your child, via the 'message the tutor' button below.

Cilrath Acre is based on Cilrath Fach farm close to Narberth. We run a productive and regenerative growing space, bringing together community and connecting people to nature, the land and locally grown food. Our aim is to take positive action, in response to the climate emergency whilst addressing food poverty and building community resilience. We provide at least 50% of the produce we grow to Pembrokeshire Foodbank, on a weekly basis during the harvesting season (approximately June to February). Since early 2024 we have also been running varied learning activities on the land on themes of growing food, permaculture, land-based skills and food preparation and preservation.
