Dovetail box - 2 Day intermediate Course
Description
Take the next step on your woodworking journey and learn to cut dovetail joints while making a simple keepsake box made using a range of hardwoods. This course is designed to give a more in depth look at more refined woodworking - ideal for a followup to my 1 or 2 day beginners courses. After selecting your timber from a range of hardwood and softwoods, you will learn to saw and prepare timber, ready to cut dovetail joinery for your box by hand and creating snug fitting lids. The courses are run from our small workshop in the heart of Weardale in County Durham, a stunning remote part of the country with dramatic lanscapes and varied wildlife in abundance. The workshop is nestled in the heart of a beautiful and calming nature reserve, which is home to a wild array of flora and fauna. Our location provides an extra dimension of relaxation and escapism from the world where you can focus on the calming simplicity of hand tool woodworking. Refine your sawing, chiselling and planing skills and tackle the most prestigious of woodworking joinery techniques.

FAQs
You will be using ANH Artisan’s tools during the course which will have been sharpened and prepared prior to your arrival. Unfortunately, you cannot use your own tools during the course as they may not be sharpened and set up safely and correctly for the day and we will not have time to prep additional kit. However if you have your own woodworking tools that you want to bring for advice on how to use them or set them up/sharpen then please do so, but they will be your responsibility to look after and ensure they are safely stored
The workshop is located within a former quarry which means some of the paths can be a little uneven underfoot. The workshop is accessed via a long ramp and we have accessible toilet facilites to the rear of the workshop. Our aim is to make our courses available to every woodworker, however please be aware the nature of the work we undertake duing the courses can be physically challenging, therefore if you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility please get in touch and we can discuss how to accomodate your needs.
